This artifact is an assignment which I completed in the Documents 1 course in the

Office Administration Program at Durham College. I chose this artifact because it

identifies with the Essential Employability Skills with regards to communication.
(Ontario, 2009) This assignment represents effective communication in reading, writing,
and presenting a document in a clear concise manner to the reader. Communication
competency was used to create this three-part assignment where I was asked to
complete a professional memo, and two letters per the business format stipulated in the
instructions. To create the memo portion of this assignment, there were nine points to
include to achieve full marks. This identifies with following instructions in detail which is
essential in effective communication with respect to a work environment. To complete
the second and third part of the assignment, the two formats with regards to business
letters, required to create the scenario of the letter and include six correct components
and two business styles for the two letters. This assignment was completed
successfully without challenge because of my exemplary ability to follow complex
instruction and attention to all details which is an effective quality in communication. I
feel comfortable in an office setting should these skills of writing memos and business
letters be called upon.
