Profile: Founded in 2007, the Center for Young Adult Addiction and Recovery at Kennsaw State
University helps students, faculty, parents and the community at large gain a beter understanding of
alcohol and other drugs. The center also provides support beyond the collegiate setting. The Collegiate
Recovery Center offers both support and structure to students seeking a college experience while
maintaing a recovery from drugs and alcohol.

Upcoming Events / Community Outreach:

The CYAAR will Take the Mask off Addiction at their Masquerade Ball on October 22, 2016 at
Atlantas fabulous Fox Theatre. Guests will enjoy messages from speakers Jeff and Jeannie
Shultz and keynote speaker Stacey Weiss, founder and chairman of Berts Big Adventure. A
seated dinner will be provided by Proof of the Pudding along with mocktails and a specialty
coffee bar. Local artist Liz Lang will create a live painting while guests bid in a silent and live
auction. Musical entertainment will be provided by Band X with other special happenings.
CYAAR students who have been certified in peer education visit KSU freshman seminars to
facilitate the Wise Choices Workshop, focusing on awareness and prevention of drug and
alcohol addiction.
Parents of CYAAR students can attend a once-monthly workshop located at KSUs Marietta
campus. The workshop features discussions on boundaries, creating personal recovery and the
process of healing after caring for a child in addiction.
Daily recovery meetings are held on campus as well as a bi-monthly Celebration of Recovery
meeting at 6:00 PM ET on the first and third Monday of each month.
Counceling services, MBTI screenings and other psychological assistances are available to
students through the CYAAR.
