Training, mentorship and support services are also extended to local


enterprises especially SMMEs, Cooperative and Emerging Farmers in
partnership with our strategic partners SEDA, SEFA, Anglo-Zimela, The
Business Place, SEDA Construction Incubator.
At the end of the day we must enhance our offerings to communities.
Last year, we committed to opening the first ever Ekurhuleni construction
incubation centre in Etwatwa. However, due to lack of suitable land in the
area, we ended up moving it to Chloorkop where it has been operational
since July. To date 33 local emerging construction companies are being
incubated into sustainable enterprises over a three-year period at the tune
of R6 million to the Metro.
Having announced the establishment of 20 Youth Empowerment Centres
previously, we report that 14 Youth Empowerment Offices have been operationalised in partnership with the National Youth Development Agency to provide both financial and non-financial support to local youth. To
date several qualifying youth-owned businesses now qualify for funding.
In keeping to our resolve to stimulate Township Economy, I am also
happy to announce that the construction of the Thokoza Enterprise Hub
in Kumalo Street, and the Tembisa Enterprise Hub on Thami Myele Street,
have both been completed. A process to immediately populate and
operationalize these centres is now underway. Furthermore, construction
of the Duduza, Barcelona
(Etwatwa), and Khulisa (Vosloorus) enterprise hubs is already underway.

will cost the City R30 million. Siyaqhuba! In an effort to ensure better
access to business support services for communities of Ekurhuleni, a process is underway to audit the services offered through our various enterprise development centres in order to package a bouquet of Township
Enterprise Hubs that could enhance entrepreneurship in Ekurhuleni,
in the efforts to stimulate community participation in the agricultural
sector and enhance the management of the Ekurhuleni farm assets, the
Metro will be inviting interested parties through a request for proposal
process to look at possibilities in this area. Ngungubela added on saying;
pleased to announce that in collaboration with the Gauteng Department
of Economic Development, we successfully hosted a Township Economies Regional Conference which was attended by no less than 3 000
entrepreneurs in Tsakane, the Township Economies Development Strategy has been developed and subject to approval, a comprehensive public
participation process shall ensue in order to engage various stakeholders, social partners, organised business and the broader community of
Ekurhuleni. The journey of fast tracking socio-economic development
continues, at the centre of which is the creation of jobs for sustainable
livelihoods, reduction of poverty levels, reducing inequality and building a capable, developmental, cohesive and prosperous city. Through
our continued partnership with community members, business sectors,
religious and other stakeholders we will move our city forward.

As the country commemorate the role that was played by the young people
on the 16 june 1976, the youth in vosloorus launched an annual Youth Summit under the theme ; Arts meets Business, the aim of this summit as stated
by one of the organises is to empower young people in business with information that will enable young people to gain access to these oppotunities for
growth and also create a platform that will be imperative in exposing talended youngstars to relative the event was a buzz with enthusiastic markets,
young people who come to enjoy the enterrtainment but most importantly
information that was shared by different stakeholders such as Culture Development and Deptment of Arts and Culture.

june 2015 at JD Dumane in Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni and had the most electrifying line-up of artists (Visual Art, Singers and Dances). The event was made

invisioned this initiative.
