What have you learned from your audience

feedback?
To evaluate the effectiveness of my digipak and to judge as to whether it follows all the digipak
conventions I decided to produce a questionnaire. I chose to ask an equal number of males and
females which fit my target audience to gain an insight as to how successful my ancillary task was.
To successfully gather my audience feedback, I decided to create a simple survey using
www.surveymonkey.co.uk. I found survey monkey quick and very easy to use in terms of collecting
the audience feedback as it could produce a hyperlink for me to distribute to my target audience.
Survey monkey then collected my results and analysed so I could easily refer to my feedback. I
decided to use a mixture of quantitative and qualitative data to ensure that my audience gets a
chance to state their opinions/views where needed.

On a scale of 1-10 (1 representing awful), how would you rate my digipak?

I decided to open with a simple
rating question to enable me to
quickly cast an eye over how my
digipak performed. I found that
90.91% of my audience rated my
digipak as an 8-10 out of 10 and
only one person rated my digipak
as a 1 out of 10. I was very
pleased with this result as it
suggested that my digipak was
successful in terms of looking
appealing but also attracting my target audience. I also learned that my audience thought my
digipak was intriguing which lead to their personal rate being between 8-10 out of 10.

In your opinion, is it clear that the digipak belongs to the indie pop genre?
I discovered that 54.27% stated that my
digipak belongs to the indie-pop genre, where
as 41.67% stated that my digipak is a little
clear that it belongs to the indie-pop genre.
Personally, I agree with the respondents that
stated my digipak is a little clear because I
have included a large amount of image
manipulation that could have been better
directed towards the indie-pop genre. Overall,
I am happy with my target audiences
response, however, I have learned that I
couldve worked towards making my digipak
explicitly clear for my audience, so they know
that it belongs in the indie-pop genre. I also
discovered that only 4.17% of the audience
that I asked stated that my digipak was not clear at all in terms of whether it belongs to the indiepop genre or not.

Which panel do you like the most and why?

decided to ask this question as I wanted to gain an insight as to

which one of my panels was the most successful and why my target audience thought this. I found
that 58.33% of my target audience preferred the bottom right digipak panel which was the front of
the album. Along with this question, I asked my target audience why they chose this panel,
comments included It is beautiful and looks different to usual album covers, I like how the image
fits in the outline of her face and It draws attention straight to it and it fits in with the genre of
music its meant to belong to. I found this feedback very positive and I learned that the way I
created my front panel was very successful and that my target audience found it appealing as well
as attractive, as it they state that it was unusual, as well as beautiful.

Do you feel that the album cover is effective?

To gain a wider understanding as to whether
my ancillary task was successful, I decided to
ask my target audience as to whether my
album cover, in their opinion, is effective. I
discovered that 87.50% of the people I asked
stated that my digipak is effective, and only 1
out of 24 questioners thought it was not
effective. I learned that overall, judging by my
audiences responses my album cover is very
effective and that a minimal amount of my
audience that it was either not effective at all,
or that it was only partially effective.

What
element
of my digipak do you think worked well?
Judging by my audiences response, I discovered that
70.83% of my audience thought that image manipulation
worked well within my digipak, as well as the colour scheme
and the image also ranking closely together. I also learned
that no one choose font and style and digipak layout as
working particularly well. This could be due to different
elements of my digipak working better or that my target
audience thought that these two elements simply didnt work
well.

What element of my digipak do you reel needs developing?

The most popular element amongst my target
audience that needs developing is font and style
scoring 69.57%. I discovered that this element needs
developing the most which I personally agree with as
I felt that my font didnt work as well with my digipak
as it could have. I also found that images, colour
scheme and digipak layout came joint second all
scoring 8.70% each. Only 1 out of 24 people decided
that image manipulation needs developing, I partially
agree as I feel that a few images could be lighter, for
example, the stepping stones, or the waterfall.
However, I also disagree that my image manipulation
needs developing as I created my digipak the way
that I envisioned it and I feel that I manipulated my
images to a close professional standard.

What would you change/add to the digipak?

I decided to include an open question to give
my target audience a chance to express
their opinion on the question that I asked
them to answer. Although a small number of
people skipped this question, I discovered
that a large portion of my audience stated
that they wouldnt change/add anything to
my digipak. I was pleased with this result as
it suggested that my audience is pleased
with my digipak as they find it appealing and
they wouldnt change anything. However,
various comments such as Could be developed further, more fancy?, A more elegant font and
A different font style suggested that something I should develop is the font style which links in
with a previous question. Once again, I agree with my audiences feedback as I also think that I
couldve variated the range of fonts I incorporated within my digipak.

Overall, do you think that the digipak looks like a real media product?
I decided to ask this question as my overall
aim with the digipak is to make it looks as
professional as possible to promote the album
and encourage my target audience to pick it
up from a shelf. I am especially pleased with
this result as 95.83% of my target audience
agree that my digipak does in fact look like a
real media product. Overall, I learned that my
ancillary task was a success as only 1 out of
24 people thought that my digipak does not
look like a real media product. However, I feel
that I have achieved my large goal of
producing a low budget, real media product
as my target audience also thinks that it was a
success.

Would you feel encouraged to buy the album, having seen the digipak?
Once again, a large portion (79.17%) of my
target audience suggested that they would
purchase the album, having seen my digipak.
Compared to 16.67% that stated they might
purchase the album and 4.17% that stated they
would not purchase the album. I was satisfied
with these results as it expanded my
understanding as to whether my intended
audience would find my digipak intriguing, as
well as alluring for them to purchase the album.
Once more, I discovered that my digipak is a
success and that my target audience would
purchase it, it they saw my ancillary task in a
music store, etc.

Are there any further improvements that could be made?

To nicely round of my questionnaire, I
chose to finish with an open question
to enable my target audience to, once
more, express their opinion. I noticed
that 100% of the people that answered
my questionnaire stated that my
digipak did not require any further
improvements. I am satisfied with
these results as it suggests that I
successfully produced a digipak to a
high quality and professional standard
which looks like a real media product.
