modifications based on how the students are doing. Also, it is important to anticipate
what problems may occur while the students use the technology.
3. Plan Your Lesson: This article gives guided questions that can help teacher plan a lesson
with technology. Some of the questions are: What might be hard for them to
understand/cope with/manage? Easy? How can you pace the material using differentiated
instruction techniques? When might a student go off task? How do you mediate the

technology before, during and after students have worked? How will you assess their
work?

reduce their stress and become more familiar with creating lesson plan and integrating
technology.
5. Think Organized: Sometimes technology doesnt work as plan, because the computer is
running slow, the internet is down, or iPads are running with low battery. Therefore, this
article gives a couple of tips on how to make sure the lesson plan can run smoothly while
using technology. The tips are:
a. Make reservations for computers (if needed)

writing. The article explains that it important to teach the students how to use the technology
device before using it. Also, giving one-on-one help, can also be beneficial for students to
successfully publish their work through technology. The article gives an example of a lesson plan
that incorporated technology. First, the first teacher reads a book about building up self-esteem.
Then, the students and the teacher decided to write their own book about what they were good at.
The application they used is iPhoto, with this application the kids were able to draw what they
were good at and type it. At the end the teacher was able to put it all together, and create the book
What Are You Good at Doing?. This article gives other ideas for application to incorporate in
the brainstorming, and publishing. Like for example: comic book creation program such
as ComicLife.
This article is great for me as a future teacher, because it helps on how to create a lesson
plan based on students publishing their work in a fun interactive way. This article gives examples
on how to create a lesson about writing while using different types of technologies that are fun
and interactive for students. The applications mention in here are easy to apply to any lesson
plan, specially. For example, I can use iPhoto to create poems with illustrations, or create a
bibliography with drawings. The students will be able to share their final writing with their

parents and teachers. I think this is a great engaging activity for all students, and is a fun way to
integrate technology, with writing.

6. Chapter 1: The Writing Process

Tompkins, G. E. (2000). Teaching writing: Balancing process and product. Upper Saddle
River, NJ: Merrill.
In chapter one from the book Teaching Writing: Balancing Process and Product by
Tompkins, it explains the steps that the students take and do while writing. The steps
are prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. Each steps is an important
part of the process for writing. This chapter explains what each step means, and it
goes in depth and how teacher can help students guide through each step.
a. Prewriting: students choose a topic, they consider the purpose and the audience, and they
organize their ideas.
b. Drafting: the students write a rough draft, and become creative in their writing.
c. Revising: the students re-read their rough draft, they can share it, and they revises it based on
the feedback.
d. Editing: the students distance themselves from the composition, proofreading to locate errors,
and correcting errors.
e. Publishing: the students can read it aloud, put it in a website, share with friends or parents,
submitted to a magazine, and many more.
Finally, this chapter also explains how to incorporate the writing process, in minilessons, and how to implement accommodations for English Language Learners.
This chapter helps me as a future teacher to know exactly what my students will need to
learn and do while writing. It is important to know the steps the students need for writing, and
what each step means before incorporating technology. It is important that I understand what
students need to do when prewriting, editing, and publishing, before I create a lesson plan where
the students will be able to use a writing with technology. That is why, I think this chapter is
really helpful, because it provides information that will help expand my knowledge, and learn
more about the importance of writing.

7. BookmarkWhat Is Successful Technology Integration?

What Is Successful Technology Integration? | Edutopia. (n.d.). Retrieved from

This website explains what technology integrations means, and types of technology
integration. This website explains that technology integration is seamless integration is when
students are not only using technology daily, but have access to a variety of tools that match the
task at hand and provide them the opportunity to build a deeper understanding of content. Also
it explains that there are different types for integrating technology. For example: using google
docs or wikis to help children collaborate with each other, using social media to engage students,
students can create videos, podcasts, or slide shows and share it, and web-based projects or
research. This websites explains how teachers can incorporate technology in the classroom, and
how teacher can learn from it.
This website will help me see the importance of understanding what integrating
technology really means. It also helps me understand the ways I can incorporate technology. I
believe that technology is becoming a major part of the students life that is why as a future
teacher it is important for me to know the concepts, and how will the students learn at their best.
I want to be able to create lesson plans that will help students reach their goals, and that is based
on the curriculum.
8. Chapter 5: Personal Writing
Tompkins, G. E. (2000). Teaching writing: Balancing process and product. Upper Saddle
River, NJ: Merrill.
Chapter 5 from the book Teaching Writing: Balancing Process and Product by Tompkins,
talks about incorporating technology by having the children create emails. It explains how

children can have the opportunity to talk to people around the world. This opens a new
opportunity to students and they can practice their grammar, make their subject descriptive, they
motivate themselves to proofread, and they use threads to reply to a message. This will help the
students be engage, and learn to improve their writing skills.
This chapter opened my eyes to incorporate technology in the classroom in a new, fun way.
When teaching children about writing letters this is the perfect way to get the students engaged,
and learn faster. When writing emails the students learn to brainstorm, because they get to
expand their thinking of what they would like to do write about or who. Also, they get to
proofread their writing before sending their emails, and publishing it will be sending it. This is a
great way to integrate technology in the classroom when creating lesson plans about teaching
children about writing letters. Also, students can email children from other countries, and they
can expand their cultural knowledge. I think this is a great idea on how to incorporate writing
with technology.
