"Bad Moms" Review

Mothers are often underappreciated and forgotten through the beginning years of
a child's life through the age of about twenty. During this period it is assumed by the child
that most things are the mothers fault in which case they take the blame. Bad Moms is
a movie that represents the struggles that a mother goes through in this time period
through inappropriate jokes that make you laugh. It is with this that we are able to
understand the difficulties that mothers face today.
Bad Moms begins with a mother that is in her twenties named Amy, played by
Mila Kunis, who has a great husband, two smart children, and a promising career;
However she is also overworked with her day to day schedule. She somehow manages to
complete everything until one day she catches her husband cheating and has a crappy
day. It is at this point that she gives up on almost all the responsibilities that she has.
Teaming with two other mothers, Kiki (Kristen Bell) and Carla (Kathryn Hahn), they do
acts that are crazy, funny and dumb to put a smile on the face of those who are eligible to
see a R-rated film. They achieve this by the acting, sound and visual effects, and high
entertainment value.
I think that I am able to speak for all of us when I claim that acting is an essential
part to all films. Not only does Bad Moms meet this requirements the supporting actors
are some of the best in the business. Kathryn Hahn or Carla plays a single mother in the
movie that is clearly not fit to be a mother. It is with her remarks and attitude that make
the movie as funny as it is. You may also recognize Kathryn form movies like
Anchorman and Were The Millers and see her talent as a supporting actress, and
ultimately becomes your favorite mom. Mila Kunis on the other hand did an amazing job
with her role as the good mother that is too stressed, always rushing around and doing the

best for her children. The same can be said for Kristen Bell who plays Kiki in the film as
she depicts the stay at home mother that is controlled by the husband very well, and near
the end is a strong symbolism of feminism as she finally stands up to her husband.
The soundtrack to the film is also an aspect that the producers did very well. Such
songs include Hey Mama by David Getta ft. Niki Minaj, Bebe Rexha, & Afrojack, I
Love It by Icona Pop ft. Charlie XCX, Shut Up and Dance By Walk the Moon, and
Sweet Jane by Garrett Kato. The songs are both from previous times to more recent
times, and although the songs from recent times are still about a year old this helps with
the mindset of the film. It is with the soundtrack that we are able to experience of the
mom liking newer songs feeling. In other words when your mother likes the newer songs,
and starts to embarrass you with them. It is with this that it also heightens the
entertainment value with the dance moves that they pull out.
When I go to most movies, it is because I am bored, and am generally looking to
be entertained. Bad Moms helped with that as I think every part of it is entertaining.
From the comedic parts like the PTA meetings to the more serious parts like marriage
counseling and the mother daughter spa day it is still able to keep my attention and at the
same time make le laugh uncontrollably.
Bad Moms is a R-rated film so I do not recommend it for family movie night
with young children due to the bad language, sexual scenes and references, and drinking
involved; But if you are old enough to see it and want to watch a comedy I strongly
recommend that you view Bad Moms.
