In the three years that | have worked with you, | have come to know you as a motivated leader that knows it is as important to pay to the details of your craft as itis to keep your eye on the big picture. You were a valuable asset this summer at Winters Mill High School as your practicum experience overlapped a summer of transition for our school. You helped us with the addition of an assistant principal, welcoming the expanded Autism program and the hiring of several critical staff members. As educational leaders and in many ways role models for teachers about the value of continued learning, itis important for administrators to engage in learning opportunities. You did that this summer, not only participating in professional development opportunities, but then applying what you had learned for the betterment of the school. You also did an immense amount of work reading and preparing 504 plans for the upcoming school year. I know you learned more about 504s than you had previously known, but more than that, learned that taking time to focus on details over the summer when the pace is slower can lead to clearer communication come the middle of the school year. These are but two of a multitude of examples of the projects you worked on and teams you participated on over the summer. While the atmosphere was more relaxed, | think you have a new understanding of the volume of work that is completed over the summer months, and a further understanding of the concept that being a high school administrator is a full-year commitment. | am proud of the work that you have done and am thankful that you were here to help us this summer. Our success this fall is due in part to the work that you were able to do this summer.
