2. SCHEME
3.2 Residence:
In case of only NRI candidates , the total monthly income of the family of
the candidate should not exceed an amount equivalent to US Dollars two
thousand two hundred fifty (US$ 2250). The candidate would have to
provide a certificate to this effect in the format given at Appendix 'D'
which should be duly countersigned by the Parent/Guardian, as
applicable.
A Merit List would be drawn up on the basis of marks obtained by all the
eligible candidates in +2 (or equivalent) exam in the following manner:
The Merit/Priority of candidates will be based on the aggregate marks
obtained in all the subjects of qualifying exam (+2 or equivalent).
In the case of 2 or more candidates getting the same aggregate % of
marks, the Merit/Priority will be decided by considering their marks in
English.
A student scoring higher marks on the above criteria would have
higher priority as compared to one scoring less marks.
In rare cases, where two or more applicants have a tie on the basis of
above criteria, the Merit/Priority shall be decided on the basis of date of
birth [As per Christian Era] of the student. The senior student would be
preferred to the younger.
In case of any further tie, EdCIL shall recommend the criteria as
appropriate to the situation.
In case, a candidate has passed from an Examining Body which award
only Grades and does not disclose marks obtained by them, the
candidate would be required to submit the Range of the Grades
adopted by the concerned Board/Examining Body and the
Merit/Priority in such cases, would be decided on the basis of
average/mean of the Range of the Grade scored by the candidate in
each subject.
The decision of Committee in this regard shall be final and binding on all
concerned.
6. PLACEMENT
The cases of eligible students short-listed on the basis of Merit list and
who convey their acceptance through fax/e-mail/post to EdCIL(India) Ltd.
along with a demand draft of US $ 350 (refundable/ adjustable) within 7
days, along with the required testimonials, shall be forwarded to three/four
institutions providing desired course of study. The institutions will examine
the eligibility of candidates for admission and provisional admission offer
letter would be issued through Ed CIL(India) Ltd.
The provisional admission offer, along with the prescribed fee structure,
documents required and tentative date of reporting at the institution shall
be conveyed to the student by Ed CIL(India) Ltd. through fax or e-mail.
The student or his/her parents/ guardian shall be required to send
difference in fee prescribed and the scholarship admissible towards IEC,
by way of a demand draft payable to EdCIL(India)Ltd. immediately on
receipt of the communication. Failure to comply with this provision may
result in withdrawal of the offer and cancellation of scholarship. Decision
of the institutions regarding admission shall be final with regard to
eligibility for the admission.
7. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
(a) In the First Year: Partial financial assistance to the extent of 75% of
the total Institutional Economic Cost (IEC) subject to a maximum of US
$ Three thousand six hundred (US$ 3,600) per annum could be made by
the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, Government of India to the
applicants selected for the SPDC. IEC includes Tuition fee, Hostel fee &
other institutional charges.(Food charges are excluded)
(b) For Second and Subsequent Years: The parameters for continuation
of scholarship to selected applicants for the second and subsequent years
of study are as follows:
(iii) Student who could not secure clear pass marks in all subjects but
have been promoted by the Institute/University to the next
academic year would be eligible to receive 50% of the scholarship
admissible under paragraph 8(b)(i) above in the following year
of study.
(iv) Students who have not been promoted to the next academic year
would not be eligible for grant of any further scholarship.
8. DISBURSEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP

Admission Assistance:
latest by 10th June 2010. Applications received after 10th June 2010
shall not be considered and shall be summarily rejected. Applicants
are advised to send their applications sufficiently in advance (after
considering transit/postal time etc.) so as to ensure its delivery at
EdCIL House, Noida in time. EdCIL (India)Ltd shall not be responsible
for any postal delay.
The candidates, in their own interest, are advised to ensure that they are
medically fit to pursue the prescribed course of study. The candidates may
be required to submit the Medical Certificate from an Authorised Medical
Practitioner including a Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) free
certificate from any of the World Health Organization collaborating
laboratories in their home country. Alternatively, the Candidates may be
required to undergo a Medical Fitness Test at the time of reporting at
concerned Institute. Please note that if the Candidate is not medically fit,
his/her admission is likely to be rejected.
12.4 Accommodation
Institutes have hostel facility and candidates may be reside in the campus.
The hostels for boys and girls are self-contained with amenities such as
reading room, dining hall, etc. Residents must abide by the rules and
regulations as may exist and are prescribed by the Institute from time to
time.
Please read carefully, the instructions given in this section before filling the
application form. To avoid mistakes, you may complete the entries item-
wise, first on a plain paper and, after proper scrutiny, transfer the same to
the application form.
The application form must be filled in ENGLISH and should be typed or
written in CAPITAL LETTERS legibly. Application forms, filled in
languages other than English, would be rejected.
Note that ONLY one application is necessary. However, if you submit
more than one application, you must clearly mark all, except the original
application, with the word DUPLICATE' at the top in red ink. All
information including photographs in all the forms must be identical. Any
violation of these instructions may invalidate your application.
Applicants must ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility requirements for
admission, i.e. education, age, residence and physical fitness, etc. If an
applicant is found ineligible at any later date, the admission will be
cancelled. All admissions are subject to verification of facts from original
certificates /documents and satisfactory medical fitness as certified by the
Medical board constituted by the institute concerned.
Affix your recent photograph (4.5 cm x 3.5 cm) in the appropriate place in
the application form. Please sign across the bottom part of the
photograph.

name should be used in all future correspondence.

Write the number of years of your education abroad out of the last 6 years
inclusive of 10+2. Attach documentary proof from your School Principal or
any suitable authority.
These must be filled and signed by the candidate with date and place.
15. Declaration by Parents
These must be filled and signed by the parent/guardian with date and
place.
All decisions of EdCIL (India) Ltd. regarding admissions under SPDC shall
be final and binding. Disputes if any, relating to the admissions under
SPDC 2010-2011 organized by EdCIL (India) Ltd shall be subject to Delhi
Jurisdiction only.

"Persons of Indian Origin" (PIOs) shall mean the Persons who are citizens of other
countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) who at any time held an Indian
Passport, or who or either of his/her parent or any of his/her grand parent was a
citizen of India by virtue of provisions of the Constitution of India or Section 2 (B) of
Citizenship Act, 1955 (Act No. 57 of 1955).
"NRI" in this context means Non-Resident Indians as defined in Income Tax Act,
1961 with the following clarifications:
(1) If he/she has not been resident in India in nine out of ten preceding
years; (OR)
(2) If he/she has not been in India for a period of 730 days or more during
the preceding seven years.
