Getting started
Nokia optical network units (ONUs) come with support for
mobile applications that help to configure and retrieve the
statuses of the residential gateway (RGW) more intuitively.
The app is supported on Android and iOS platforms and can
be downloaded from the Google Play Store for Android and
from the Apple App Store for iOS. The mobile application
allows you to configure most of the features of the RGW
and also helps to check different statuses of the ONT.
The following is a list of features and statuses that can be
configured and retrieved using the RGW mobile application.

To access and configure certain features
of the ONT, log in to the ONT.
1. Connect the smartphone to the
Wi-Fi interface of the ONT.
2. Open the digital ONU application.
3. Enter the username and password in
the login window, as shown in [Figure 1].
If logging in to the app for the first time,
use the username and password provided
on the back of the ONT.
4. The toggle button can also be clicked to
show advanced options for login. A field
for inputting the ONT IP address pops up.
The default value is 192.168.1.254.
The field can be edited if needed.
5. Click Login.

Dashboard
1. After logging in to the app, the dashboard
screen appears [Figure 1].
2. The dashboard shows the ONT status,
URL blocker status and the firewall status.
Clicking on any of these options takes you
to the respective windows.
3. The dashboard screen shows the online
and offline count of devices.
4. Click on Show Advanced Options to go
to the various windows of the ONT.
5. You can also access the menu by swiping
the mobile app page to the right. The side
menu includes the following options:
a. Dashboard
b. ONT Management
c. Wi-Fi Analyser
d. App settings
e. About
f. Logout

Wireless 5 GHz
This frequency range is used by the 802.11ac
standard and can provide high capacity
bandwidths of up to 1.3 Gb/s.
Configuration can be done as follows:
1. On the home screen as shown in [Figure 1],
select Wi-Fi.

How to set up
a guest network
Setting up a guest network is much the same
as setting up your initial wireless network.
Youll just need to select a different SSID from
your initial network setup, enter a unique
SSID (network name) and, if required, create
a password for the guest network.
Connecting
other devices
Sometimes equipment or applications
in your home network may require traffic
from the internet to be sent to them over
a specific port. This is often the case with
gaming consoles, for example, which requires
you to configure port forwarding on the ONT.

How to set up
parental controls
You can restrict access to or from the internet
from within your home subnetwork in several
ways:
IP filter
MAC filter
IP filter
IP filtering enables you to name the IP address
of a device within your subnet (for example,
192.1.x.x), and restrict the flow of certain
types of IP data to or from that device, based
on the IP address. Restricted content is
discarded as it passes through the ONU.

MAC filter
Equipment in your network is identified by the
unique MAC address assigned to that device.
You can restrict which devices have access to
the internet according to their MAC address
by allowing or blocking access for the devices
listed (your choice).
1. On the home screen as shown in [Figure 1],
select Advanced ONT Settings.

How to change
the login password
of the ONT
You can (and should) change the password that
is used to log in to the ONT to ensure others
cannot gain unauthorized access to your router
and settings.
1. On the home screen as shown in [Figure 1],
select Advanced ONT Settings.

How to assign IP
addresses to devices
in your network
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
enables the ONT to function as a DHCP
server that can automatically assign an IP
address to devices in your network from
a predefined range of addresses. This is
beneficial when you have multiple devices to
prevent duplicate addresses being assigned.
Alternatively, you can manually specify a
static (unchanging) IP address.
To configure the ONT to function as a DHCP
server and assign IP addresses:
1. On the home screen as shown in [Figure 1],
select Advanced ONT Settings.

Wi-Fi Analyser
Checking Wi-Fi signal strength
To check the signal strength of the Wi-Fi,
take the following steps:
1. After login, click Wi-Fi Analyser in the side
menu. The Wi-Fi Analyser screen will open
[Figure 1].
2. In the Analyser tab, there will be a list
of Wi-Fi options. This list will keep on
changing every 5-10 seconds. An empty
option means the selected Wi-Fi option
is out of range. Select the Wi-Fi SSID
that needs to be analyzed.
3. Enter a name for the current location
(for example, living room) in the location
name field and click Save.
