Using a compass and protractor the students will draw, bisect and divide lines. STL 8.G
Using a compass and protractor the students will construct, bisect and transfer angles. STL 8.G

Introduction or Preparatory Set:
Have the students name different geometric shapes they see in the classroom. See how many
they can name. Explain that all items are designed using combinations of geometric shapes.
Advanced Organizer:
Ask the students if they ever played with a shape sorting toy as a small child.
Presentation Outline:
1) Read through and discuss Unit 6 over Basic Geometric Construction.
2) Discuss the chapter as a class.
3) Review how to use a compass and protractor.
4) Discuss if there are any skills from the last lesson that we are applying here and how we are building on our
knowledge.
Demonstration:
Draw each problem on the whiteboard as we work through them.
