Graduate Unemployment
1. Based on the article, there are many reasons for unemployment among graduates. Some that I
have highlighted are that the graduates are expecting expensive salary, requesting an absurd
amount on their paycheck. The graduates are also said that they have a bad attitude, lack
communication skills and a little not too good with english. They have a mindset that after
graduations, the work are going to be easy and they don't have to batter their minds and energy.
2. Among the reasons that I have read in the article, I wish to improve my skills in
communicating and my english. This is because communicating skill is very important in dealing
with every people. During work, we will have to meet a lot of people from various companies;
that is where our communication skills plays a very important role. If we lack communication
skills, we will became a problem to our company and simultaneously giving them a bad
reputation.
2. About Me
Hi, my name is Asri Bin Ismail. I'm now 21 years old and was born in Penang, Malaysia. I am
the middle child in my family and I have a brother and a younger sister. Before I came to
UTHM, I studied Science Foundation at UITM Puncak Alam. I start falling for engineering since
i was a child. My father, an electrician, has thought me a lot about his work I loved it. Thus why
I am here at UTHM today. I entered UTHM under the Aeronautical Engineering Course and then
transfer to the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. I am now on my third year at UTHM
and it has been 3 years of a lot of fun and work while I'm here. I love to learn about new things
and like to keep an open mind on every issues. With the support of my family and friends, I hope
to graduate and pursue my life - long dream, an engineer.
3. What Makes Me Happy most?
For starters, money does make a lot of people happy. But to me, what makes me happy the most
is to enjoy my time around my family and my friends. We can tell stories that befallen us and
also get to be closer to each other. I love them as much as they love me, hopefully. When I'm
around them, life is just another topic to be discuss. We have these forum - like discussion where
the story telling and excitement meet. The most important thing that I love when I'm around
them is the advices and support that I received, the one that makes me who I am now.
4. Successful people: Their secrets to success
1) J.K Rowling
Joanne "Jo" Rowling, also known as J.K Rowling, was born on June 1965 in London. She is an
author and the very author of the famous 'Harry Potter' series which is the best - selling book
series in history. She describes herself as a failure before this but as it turn out, she is one of the

most successful person in the world. The reason that she is where she is now is that she never
give up. She kept on sending her manuscript over and over to a publisher after it has been
rejected. She also focused only on writing, so that she would not get distracted on anything else.
That is why 'Harry Potter' is one of the most famous books and movies to be made.
2) Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson is the best pop singer in the world and his song has win him a lot of his fans. He
has several methods that he used to become successful. The first method is that he was a huge
dreamer. He used to dream that he would sell even more copies than he had sold. He convinced
himself that it would happen. The second method is to work like there's no tomorrow. He would
practice and working non - stop. He once worked for 5 days straight without getting any sleep
just to become number 1.
3) Nelson Mandela (Madiba)
Nelson Mandela, also known as Madiba, was the President of the South Africa. Before he was a
President, he had lived for 27 years in a prison. He was successful as a leader for a couple of
reasons. First, after his suffering and depersonalization in prisons, he forgave his jailors. He felt
compassion for the jailors that had tortured him. He also never give up to make his country a
better place. Even after living in prison for 27 years, he never stopped to fight for his country.

5. Marrying the Rapist
After reading the article, I was left speechless. As the story goes, the victim didn't want to press
charges on the rapist, a 52 years old with several wives and children. My opinion the girl wanted
the rapist to take responsibility of taking care of her instead of going to prison. Maybe she felt
compassion for the rapist's family who have to take care his several wives and children. But, to
me, as a rapist, he is still a criminal and we have to collaborate so that raping can be put to a
stop.
6. What makes me really angry

The one thing that really hit my nerves is when someone casually take my belongings without
even a word to me. I don't care what it is going to be used for, but I want to know that my stuff is
on your hand instead of just missing magically. We have been thought to ask for permission if we
want to even go to the bathroom in school. If you can't even do something that is really basic, to
me you are a person without any good manners. Nobody likes their belongings just magically
disappeared from them without knowing it.
7. Unwanted Babies!!!
This is just another daily case in Malaysia. The article told about a foetus that has been dumped
in the hospital rubbish bin. What's really bothering me when I saw the news was why is it
happening a lot. Its mind boggling. The people responsible for this should be marked as killers.
This is because a foetus is also a living human being. We all were at one time. Do they not feel
any guilt as they were doing it? This is one of the things that makes me feel sad. We are known
all over the world as an Islamic Nation but babies are being thrown like they are nothing but
unwanted junk. Frankly I am ashamed of the people at fault. I hope that we can resolve this
issue. But, we need to tackle it from the root causes and we need to do it together. No more
unwanted babies.
8. 2017 Nations Budget Your wish list?
1) Budget is something that we have for the plans that we have ahead of us.
2) We need to prepare a budget so that it would be easy for us to manage our life. With a budget,
we can calculate and tally to our saving so that we can spend it wisely.
3) As an undergraduate and a Malaysian Citizen, I want to propose that we cut the cost for our
education. We can also receive a discount from the PTPTN student loan. It would also help us if
we can have a book lending system like in the primary and secondary schools because the books
that we need to used now are quite expensive
9. Babies born out of wedlock: How to overcome?
1) Babies born out of wedlock means that the baby were conceived before his/her parents
married.
2) My suggestion to overcome this problem is to nurtured kids with the consequences of having
sex before marrying. This is an important task for parents and teachers. Parents play an important
role in educating their children. Parents have to set an example for their children as well as
watching every steps that they are doing. Parents need to be strict to their children. It is better for
them to hate the parents now rather than regretting it later. Parents also need to educate their
children about their religion. The teacher at schools also have to take this responsibility of taking
care the children and teaching them the differences of good and bad.

10. Sex education in our schools: Is it necessary?

A) 3 reasons in agreement to sex education in school
1. Sex education is the process of acquiring knowledge and forming attitudes and beliefs about
sex, sexual identity, relationship, and intimacy.
2. Sexual education is also about developing skills of an individual to help them in protecting
themselves against sexual abuse, exploitation, unwanted pregnancy and STDs
3. This would be the right time to occupy them with necessary knowledge that will be useful in
helping themselves to meet their needs and to enjoy their sexuality and relationships that they
form in future
B) 3 reasons in disagreement to sex education in school
1. Sexual indoctrination at its finest.
2. Whatever time is spent on this ideology-driven nonsense is time not spent on other, more
appropriate educational items such as teaching adolescents to use reasoning skills
3. It is in our families that we should learn about ourselves and who we are, not from
government-run systems

11. The Apprentice: Lessons Learnt About Business
After I have watched The Apprentice, some of the lessons that I have learnt about critical success
factors in business are to never underestimate your customer knowledge and intelligence. You
don't know what your customers are thinking. Sometimes, customers have seen some review
before they went out to buy the product. So, it is moot to lie to your customers about the product
that you are selling. Another lesson is not to come out too strong to your customers. You have to
promote your business but not in a way that they feel uncomfortable with it. You should
approached them in a way that won't scare them away. Customers don't like to be pushed to buy
the products.
12. When is the best time for young people to start a serious relationship with the opposite
sex?

In my opinion, the right time for young people like me should start a serious relationship with the
opposite sex differs for everyone. It should be noted on your own physical and emotional
feelings. The right time for me is when we have accomplished a stable life and stable financial. A
serious relationship will need us to put our self to a commitment with another person. So, in
order to do that, we need to learn and work for it as well as be ready to face the challenges up
ahead. There is no need to rush into it if we are not ready. For me, the best time for young people
to start a serious relationship is when we are ready to fight together with someone and gain
experience while doing it.
13. Politics: Are you comfortable talking about politics?
1) Politics are the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially
the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having r hoping to achieved power
2) To me, politics are a society that exist to take the power and responsibility for the very country
and in certain area and it is important for the country development.
3) I would say that I am not too comfortable talking about politics now days. This is because in
Malaysia, we tend to argue about politics, putting blames on people and even get down to a fight.
Sometimes, if the topic of discussion is about politics, I wouldn't mind joining in if it is just a
normal discussion. What really makes me uncomfortable is feeding someone on a fact that you
don't know the reliability. This tends to lead to an argument which leaves me, uncomfortable. Get
your facts straight before talking about it.
14. Parit Raja: What are your likes and dislikes about this town?
1) After living in Parit Raja for almost 3 years now, I have went out and scout the town looking
for some entertainment and nice places. There is a lot of things that I loved about Parit Raja. One
of them is the local people here are very nice and polite. They welcomed us to stay at their
hometown and it is a pleasure to be a part of this town. I also love the variation of snacks that are
sold here. Its abundance amount and high quality but are reasonable is one of my favorite things
that i liked about this town. Lastly, the food that are served here are delicious and cheap. There is
a lot of restaurant that we can pick and a variety of food are served here.
2) The things that I dislike about Parit Raja town is that the qualities of the road that I have to use
to get to UTHM are not good. It is the main road that every people in this town has to go through
to get to their destination. I am also having troubles with the narrow streets in this town. The
back road is so narrow that it could only one and half car. Lastly are the traffic in the main road
of Parit Raja. It is always tail to tail during the rush hour.
3) My recommendations that I would make toward making Parit Raja a more livable place for
UTHM students and the locals alike are for the authorities to take actions in repairing the main
road and make the back road bigger. We can also put the traffic police to control the road during
the rush hour so that the road will be clear much faster.

15. Food eateries in UTHM

Within the campus of UTHM, there are plenty of food eateries in almost every building. What I
love about the eateries here are the variety of the food that they served for the students and staff.
They have different serving for each time of the day. During breakfast, they will serve fried rice,
fried noodles and some types of cakes such as curry puff and many more. On lunch time, they
will serve rice with plenty of dishes to be choose from. At night is when it gets merrier. The food
are prepare freshly for the students and staff and there is a lot of other stalls that sell unique and
different types of food. You could get a waffle, kebab, any sizzling dishes and also takoyaki. All
in all, I feel very lucky to get the chance studying in UTHM.
16. Crime: A worrying trend in Malaysia!
1) an action or omission that constitutes an offense that may be prosecuted by the state and
is punishable by law
2) Petty crime is fairly common, while violent crime remains relatively uncommon. There
continued to be a noticeable increase in crime, including several reported assaults and
robberies, sometimes involving weapons. The reasons that the crime is happening in
Malaysia is the lack of attention from both parents and teachers. The crime that are being
committed today are mostly done by young generations. They were not thought about the
consequences of crime and how bad it is for them. Some of them are committing the
crimes due the influence from movies where they try to follow the act.
3) Japan is often considered slightly odd compared to other countries. Its economic success,
distinct culture and disciplined population has made Japan rather unique, and produced
one of the lowest crime rates in the world. The country has 127 million people yet street
crime is almost unheard of; the murder rate is only lower in tiny Monaco and Palau, and
the use of drugs is minimal compared to other industrialized countries. Going to prison
in Japan would be an unimaginable social stigma for most people, leading to a
widespread public perception that crimes are mostly committed by foreigners. The belief
that almost all Japanese are law-abiding also creates a system that routinely treats
suspects as guilty until proven otherwise. In such a hierarchical and deferential society,
suspects face enormous pressure to cooperate with the investigators and admitting guilt,
leading to a conviction rate in the courts of more than 99%. The criminal justice system
is founded on a strong belief that the criminal must repent for his crime not simply
being punished the law and Japanese prisons are well-known (or notorious) for their
strict discipline and order.
4) Three best way to overcome crimes in Malaysia are:

a)

Parents and teacher must collaborate in educating the children about the crime and
how it will affect them. They need to be thought about consequences since they are
small.

b)

By producing quality police force to fight crimes. With a trained police force, the
crime can be fight easily.

c)

Using technology to help fight crimes. Now, we have drones with camera attached to
it that can transmit the video feed direct to the owner. These drones can be used to
monitor the places easily and alerting the police forces faster.

17. UTHM Convocation Fair

UTHM Convocation Fair, FESTKON16 were held on 5th-10th of October 2016 at the UTHM
marching field. There were many stalls that were open for rent. Various resellers and business
companies had rented the place. There were also several events held during the FESTKON16
festival. Most of the entertainment events held in the night.
On the first day of the festival, there were cooking demonstration done by KEMAS Batu Pahat.
At night, a karaoke contest was held with the theme Student idol. The contest were joined by
the UTHM students. On the second day, the fair were kick - started with a greening campaign
lead by Batu Pahat Agricultural Department. Marching performances and self-defense by
PALAPES was held the evening. During the night, a talk of Maal Hijrah was given by Dai
Izzhar.
Comes the third day, a drawing competition were held by students from Tadika Al-uweis in the
morning. Many UTHMs students got involved in a cooking competition that were held in the
evening. On the next day, the morning session came to life with Zumba session. Sukan Rakyat
were held in the evening. There were many traditional games that were played during the on going event. There were also a very interesting show of the man who eats fire. He performs in
front of the crowds at FESTKON16. One of the astonishing moment was when he were able to
put out the fire by putting it in his mouth several times.
On the fourth day, the festival were flooded with people. The activities that took place was a
Colouring Competition. The participants of the colouring completion was from Pusat Asuhan
Tunas Islam al-Uwaies from Taman Universiti. The festival is then followed with the
Competition of Healthy Food amongst the students. On the 9th October, there was a health
exhibition and a free dental check up session. There were also an auto show event held on that
day. At night, the karaoke competition continues. On the last day of the festival, there was
aerobics exercises sessions in the morning. On the evening, the ceremony was closed by the
district officer from Batu Pahat.
As a conclusion, there were lot of interesting activities were held on FESTKON. I have now seen
a live show of a man eating fire. It was very interesting and quite scary to be watch at some

point. There were a lot of business that were held and a lot of enjoyable moments. This is one of
the ways to connects with our friends and the local people of Parit Raja.
18. Politics: Should you be involved?
It is true that the students of College and Universities, that are to be the pillars of the future
edifice of the nation must be imbibed with a genuine sense of political consciousness and when
summoned by the country, should come forward to make the maximum sacrifice.
Active participation in politics causes great interference with a students primary duty of study,
and may lead to colossal waste of time and energy in his academic pursuits. Students should not,
therefore, take part in active politics. On the other hand, the students, who are the rising
generation and on whom the country pins her confidence, must be inspired with an ever burning
patriotic zeal and should be ever prepared to dedicate their lives on the altar of countrys
freedom. For this purpose they need proper preparation and acquaintance with the elements of
politics. Such preparation would include a good general education, a fair knowledge of history,
geography, economics, sociology etc. and acquaintance with the national and international
affairs.
Power of debate and forceful presentation of a case and the spirit of service, sacrifice and
discipline need be cultivated during student life by those aspiring for the career of a future
politician. But active participation in politics would not be suitable for students because they are
still immature and inexperienced and are apt to be swayed by passions and prejudices. Thus, in
my opinion, students should not get involved in politics.
19. If you were not
If I am not studying engineering in university now, I would probably be studying the art and
drama. This is because I always have a fond for art and love the art of story - telling. I would
love to be able to direct a movie of my own like Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino. All of
the films that have been by these two are honestly my favorite movies of all time. If I am not
studying engineering, I would love to pursue a career in drama. To be given a chance to direct a
movie would be an opportunity for me to express myself to the world. I would love to show the
world what my imaginations are capable of.
20. Tips for Academic Success
After reading the twelve strategies for academic success, I'm going to say that the two strategies
that is most challenging to be followed are paying attention to details and recognize that different
courses require different study skills. This is because when I am studying, I would time my
problem solving skills and sometimes it could get challenging as I would past the time that have
been predicted. This will make it harder to pay attention in order to catch up with time. The other
problem would be recognizing different study skills. This is because I have felt comfortable with
the way I am studying now. So it would be challenging to change it.

One of my strategies of studying are to understand the method of solving a question or problems.
If we can understand the method, then it would be easy for us to solve the problem given. This
require us to do more practice in order to fully understand the way of solving different types of
questions.
21. Differences between Rich and Poor Nations
a) For me, out of the nine traits above, I find the effort to be productive is the most crucial
principle of life. In order to be productive, we must learn to work hard and think outside the box.
Our method may vary from others, but it can solve the problem that we have on our hand.
Productivity works great, but only if we have the willpower to stick to it. So, in order to improve
productivity, we must have disciplines and practice. The truth about productivity is that it takes
time and a lot of work.
b) Today, I find that the respect for Laws and Regulations are the most lacking among
Malaysians. This is because we can see a lot of crime that is happening in front of our very own
eyes. We can see a lot of bullying in schools that has put student by the hospital bed. This
couldn't be happening if we set a good examples for the children. But, now as we turn on the
news, we learnt that a new crime have been done and another law being crossed. That is what I
think Malaysian are lack off.
