Reflection I truly never thought that statistics was something for me since Im majoring in computer science and I always thought that statistics was only for accountancy positions. After this semester of taking statistics I can clearly see I was wrong and I now think statistics is something that is used throughout most majors, something that helps you understand why certain events happen and how. For example, probability, I feel like probability is one of those concepts that I will be using a lot in the future because of computer structures, our computers work with ones and zeros and there are many bugs laying out there that can be avoided by understanding when an event is most likely to happen, so this is when probability comes along. By being able to identify which processes occur most often I can work my way around a lot of the bugs that might show up. Im familiar in this concept because I was taking discrete mathematics for computer science at the same time I was taking this class. An example is when we transfer data over the net, sometimes not 100 percent of the data packets get there. When streaming a video, the color of some pixels might have been dropped in the way and lost, but the developer must build an algorithm that can guess the color by the color of the surrounding pixels and for this to be able to function without it interfering with the quality of a video we must evaluate the probability of such an event happening.
