F. Learning material : Short Message (Memo)


Memo is a message that is written shortly, clearly, and easy to be understood.
Memo can be said formal when it is used as a formal statement letter, such as a
message from a leader to employee. But it can be said informal when it is used as
an informal statement letter, such as a message that is sent among friends, relatives,
or other persons. Memo has three parts: Address, body, and signature.
1. Address
This part explain for whom the message is.
2. Body
This part is the content of the message. Write your message. Dont forget to
say thank you at the end of your message.
3. Signature
This part consists at least one of these three parts : date/your signature/your
name.

For Example:
To: Mom
Mom, I borrowed your clutch bag.
The one with black suede colour and two side pockets. I need it for Bimas birthday
party tonight.

1. Preliminary activities
a. Starting the lesson by saying Basmallah.

a. Exploration
The teacher asks the students to pay attention when the teacher describes
the material, and listen carefully what the teacher says.

1. Asking and answering all about thing based on the topic/ theme of
functional text which will explained.
2. Reviewing about vocabulary and grammar based on kind of text
functional
3. Write simple sentences based on kind of text.
4. Write short functional text based on the context.
c. Confirmation
1. The teacher correct of their written text of short message.
2. The teacher asks the thing haven not understood by students.

3. Closing activities
a. The teacher give conclusion about the material of short message.
b. The teacher asks students difficulties in their writing, and explain what the
way out of the students problem in their writing.
