Introduction
Sahasra linga puja is predominantly done in Andhra Pradesh. Due to this reason, procedures for this puja
are not available in any other language. This document was created for the benefit of devotees who do
not know Telugu.
In this first version of this document, the core stotrams, and related material have been included. When
time permits, location of each set of shiva lingams will be included. Since pictures have to be carefully
drawn, it might take some time. Pictures describing the layout are available and readable by devotees of
all native languages. For the above mentioned reasons, pictures of the layout for each step (aavaranam)
are not included in this version.
This layout (kalpam) of 1116 shiva lingams is present in Tanguturu, near Ongole, Prakasham District,
APs shiva temple.
If readers feel the need to contribute for the effort of the author, they may feel free to contribute to one of

3. Swami Omkarananda http://vedaneri.org/AboutSSO.aspx, or

Acknowledgments
This document would not have been without help and support for a lot of sources. The names of people
who helped are listed in the chronological order of their timely help:
1. Shri Chandrasekar Bodapati of Irving, TX for lending Telugu scripted pooja procedure books for
an extended period of time and for praying for a successful completion of this effort.
2. Shrimati Revathi Ram of Irving, TX initiated the activities with good intentions and contributed
to the purvanga puja in a significant way.
3. Shri PN Seetaraman avargal was greatly instrumental in getting the document to its current
shape. He had patiently transliterated 16 aavaranams and purva anga puja from Telugu script to
English and Tamil. Before his visit to the USA, he served in Andhra Pradesh as a senior
professor in various colleges and retired as a Principal from Government City College,
Hyderabad, AP.
4. Ms Gomathy Periathiruvadi of Irving, TX for assisting in typing reading and support.

suggestions. Dr Kapoor had spent an endless amount of her personal time to improve this
document.
9. Thanks to publishers of Veda Mantrams books that have been scanned to expedite the release of
