FGS AND BROADCASTING SCHEME BASED BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION FOR

VIDEO ON DEMAND SERVICES IN WIRELESS NETWORK

ABSTRACT
This project for wireless VoD (Video on Demand) service, in order to improve spectrum
efficiency and provide users good QoS (quality of service), this paper proposes a new bandwidth
allocation algorithm based on periodic broadcasting and FGS (fine-granular-scalability) video
coding schemes. Different from existing bandwidth allocation algorithms, this paper refined
takes into account the heterogeneity of users and variability of available wireless bandwidth.
Finally, the simulation shows that our algorithm could support a well quality of service and
achieve a good user experience, which is conducive to the wide spread of wireless video
services.
It many users applied VoD service cant be served alone and provided QoS promise. To
popular videos, full use of the broadcast nature of the wireless channel and providing satisfactory
service for users using multicast/broadcast have become one of the hot researches. Considering
the sequence of arrival of the mobile VoD users requests, this paper used periodic broadcasting
protocols. FGS (fine-granular-scalability) layered video coding was used to encode videos. The
object is to use limited bandwidth resources fully to improve users video quality and the
utilization of the bandwidth.
The scheme allocated bandwidth to many enhancement channels to improve the users
perceived video quality. In wireless OFDM systems, users channel quality is different to the
same subcarrier in addition the channel is time-varying. This paper provides a scheme of
subcarriers allocation while considering wireless channel characteristics. The scheme allocated
subcarriers too many base video layers and enhancement video layers to enhance the utilization
of the subcarriers while promised users base video quality.

EXISTING SYSTEM
In the past few years the wireless communications community has witnessed a
tremendous growth in multimedia traffic. Providing Quality of Service (QoS) to various
multimedia services according to their bandwidth requirements is an important resource
management issue for wireless networks. However, due to the limited and variable wireless link
bandwidth the resource management in wireless networks is a challenging problem. Bandwidth
adaptation is one of the most promising resource management methods to support multimedia
traffic in wireless networks. With bandwidth adaptation, the allocated bandwidth of ongoing calls
can be adjusted dynamically to cope with the resource fluctuations in wireless networks. This
thesis investigates how to apply bandwidth adaptation techniques to provide QoS guarantees in
multimedia wireless networks.
