What is a constitution? What is the main purpose of the U.S. Constitution?
A constitution is a written plan for government. The U.S. Constitution greats our
government.
There are 3 parts to the U.S Constitution:
1) The Preamble
2) The Articles
3) The Amendments

The Preamble
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice,
insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and
secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this
Constitution for the United States of America.
What is the Preamble?
The introduction to the Constitution; it explains what the Constitution is meant to do
and describes the purpose of the new government.
