Family News

Hi guys, A big shout out to all our

amazing and faithful Amped4Life
supporters. Its December and we
are hurtling towards Christmas.

Our first bit of news is that my precious Mum of 81 years

of age-a loving and selfless person, a loyal and committed
supporter of Amped4Life and inspiration for much that we
do today passed away on August 16th 2016. She died after
a brief illness in hospital. My Mum was an incredible lady
who lead by example in all that she did. Mum exemplified
to me and my two brothers, an example of integrity and
servanthood for us to follow. Its been 3 months already.
Miss you every day. You were my hero, my friend, my MUM.
Love you Always.
Our family are in good health. Karen and I
are getting prepped for Christmas with all
the hustle and bustle that comes with end of
year celebrations. Both Seth and Ella finish
their schooling in a week or so. Seth moves on
to Tauranga Boys College. Our wee man has
grown up. Ella moves up to Yr. 8 at Bethlehem
College and will then remain there right
through the rest of her time at school.

2016 has been another busy year. We have

travelled around the country and continue
to share the Amped message, encouraging
better choices and motivating young people
toward a positive and brighter future
without the need for substances.

Karen has had a good year at Tauranga Hospital

as a health care assistant. She is a pillar of
strength for me both personally and a huge
support on the home front when Amped4Life
business takes me out of town and away
for days at a time. Karen has also has been
incredibly supportive during my time of the
loss of my Mum. Thanks honey, youre a legend.

Term 3
We have been extremely busy in Term 3 working in
the Auckland region as well as many opportunities
in the WBOP. We have also presented again at
many local churches and youth groups throughout
Tauranga and the Waikato.

Christchurch Trip
I was fortunate enough to be invited back to
Christchurch by a couple I had met at a dentist
conference I had spoken at about 4-5 years ago on
the impact of methamphetamine.
Alwyn & Retha Prinsloo, formulated a plan to bring
the Amped4Life message back to the South Island.
I was asked to come and share with their children
and also to friends and families that they knew
who they knew would benefit from our visit. I was
able to bring my son Seth with me on the trip. As a
result, we had a fantastic Dad and son time. I was
also invited to speak at a local youth Group at All
Nations church on the Friday night where their
children attend.

opened for future visits both in Christchurch and

also Blenheim. We are excited about being able
to expand our territory and empower many young
students and teenagers with a positive and holistic
message which encourages better choices. Thanks
Alwyn & Retha for a wonderful and memorable
visit. Your hospitality kindness and generosity were
gratefully received. I am excited about coming back
to the South Island in March 2017.

We were privileged to go and watch Jacques, their

son play a game of Ice Hockey which was incredible,
fast paced and extremely exciting to watch. He has
since gone to Canada to play with an academy for
several months. I was then invited by an old friend
to come and share at Rangiora Baptist church on
the Sunday. I spoke to a large group of people in the
morning and also several hundred at night.
My friend Jonathan and his wife Roshni hosted
our stay in Rangiora. You guys rock. Always love
catching up with family. We spent Monday morning
shopping at Westfield plaza in Riccarton before
flying home Monday mid-morning.
As a result of coming south the door has now

Feedback
The key messages that I learnt was mostly how
drugs is not just a personal issue, it affects the
others around you. Pat said how he has had to
bury many loved ones, and he talked about how
his friends influenced him into starting and then
getting out of drugs. This made me realise that
this is more than just a personal thing because it
completely influences the lives around you too.
What really spoke to me was the experiences that
he had and the stories that he shared about his
involvement with drugs. Usually we read about
the negative effects on the body and then how it
damages society and relationships with others.
But hearing a personal story right in front of us
had much more impact in getting it into our heads.
I liked how he presented these stories and unlike
most talks we are given in school, he never used
the words dont do drugs. Instead he influencing
us away from drugs by saying that we are better
than that and we have potential to lead amazing
lives. This gives us hope and it lets us feel as
though we are more adult like because it felt as
though Pat was giving us this decision on our
own instead of telling us what to do. His personal
stories about what he has gone through is enough
to influence anyone to never even touch drugs.
This is what made his talk as inspirational as it was

the difference we are making out there in your communities

Really excellent talk, very engaging and interesting

to listen to. I went and listened to the talk at lunch
time as well because I was so interested. I went
home and told my family about it. Would definitely
recommend to anyone :).

I think that you are so inspiring. Even though you

have gone through many hardships in your past and
still in the future, you have turned your life around

Feedback from Teachers and Students

The speaker felt relatable; he seemed to really
understand the ways teens think and act. He had
experience with things like drugs and the ways they
had affected him; and therefore it resonated with
me. The presentation felt raw and honest. I think
it was very brave of him to stand up there and tell
a group of teens he likely never met about some
very dark and personal aspects of his life, with the
aim of improving or saving the lives of others. This
is probably the best presentation on drugs and
alcohol and safety I have ever seen and it should
be shown in every secondary school in the country
[STUDENT HOWICK COLLEGE]

Pat through Amped4Life deliver both a direct and

authentic message. He delivers key information
and helpful advice based on facts and real life
experience that hit home to our students. He
engages his audience with his passion, energy and
genuine care and concern for them. His use of
quality and relevant visual presentations as well
as stories and examples illustrate and support
his message. We are deeply appreciative for what
he does to support the young men of our college
on their journey through adolescence and he is a
person who has touched the lives of many within
our school community (both young and old). He is
determined to make a difference and play his part in
helping young adults make the right decisions and
to learn and take note of the lessons he can share
from someone who has lived it.
I would recommend Amped4Life without hesitation,

this aspect of the tricky and bumpy road that is
adolescence, Pat is a man who speaks from the
heart and can have an impact on them as well
as providing some tools and knowledge to equip
them in their decision making. I thank him for
what he has done for the many boys at Tauranga
