Standard Flange Bolting Procedure According to ASME PCC-1

Training Duration:

14 hours total (2 days x 7 hours)

(Certicate of Attendance will be provided)

DESCRIPTION
This course will enable a fundamental understanding of the behaviour of a bolted ange, an essential
component of pressure equipment. It will provide you with the tools according to ASME PCC-1 to minimize
possible leaks related to ASME B16.5 and ASME B16.47 standard anges and to respect provincial
environmental standards.
OBJECTIVES
Understanding all variables inuencing the tightness of an ASME ange
Learning the necessary calculations to determine bolt torque
Understanding the opinions of main ASME and CSA Codes in the eld of anges
Upon completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
Be able to identify the main causes of leakage at the ASME anges
Determine the torque to be transmitted to the bolts to reduce the risk of leaks
Understand the opinions of key codes (ASME B31.1, B31.3, ASME Section I, ASME Section VIII
div. 1, CSA Z662, etc.).
TARGET ATTENDEES
This course is designed for engineers, eld professionals, inspectors, technicians, and entrepreneurs.

3. Failure analysis associated with lack of ange tightness and solutions (examples)
4. Appendices
It is highly recommended to bring a copy of the ASME PCC-1-2013 Code in order to better follow the
explanations given in class.
