ABSTRACT

The current billing and processing patient information of Eastern Visayas Regional

Medical Center (EVRMC) is generated manually which is inadequate for maintaining fast

accurate service to its patients. In most instances, there is a delay in the generation of the reports,

thus, the management could not anticipate the rapid growth of the hospital in a very short period

of time. This is the reason why automation is not far from the reality. The problems determined

from the interviews conducted include several transactions in storing and retrieving in different

manual storage of data. The time that is required in doing one cycle of processing take too long.

Slow processing makes it very boring to the personnel concerned. In the future, this slow

processing will result in an insufficient service. There are still some problems mentioned to the

group, thus we recommended the development of a Computerize Online Patient Information

particularly in Billing System type that is network ready for future expansion of the hospital.

Some of the abilities of the system include having menu screens that will allow users to select

options to retrieve and update patient information and record history. Reports will be produced

from time to time and a selection of inquiry screen will be made obtainable. Additional benefits

include automating maintenance of records, automatic computations of all charges in billing,

ease of retrieving and updating master and transaction files, and timely generation of reports for

decision making. With this proposed system, the hospital will heighten the manual procedure to

become competitive to a fast growing technology found on hospitals of today. This proposed

system is highly recommended for EVRMC for them to use in support to a fast, easy and

economical operation.

PREFACE

The Leyte Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center was established on August 16, 1916

in Tacloban City. It’s currently under the supervision of Dr. Alberto C. De Leon, with 109

doctors in 32 sections/units and with a bed of two hundred fifty in capacity. EVRMC is a Center

of Excellence that provides the highest quality of health care to all people of Region 8. The

current Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center spot structure were improved and constantly

developed, it is one of the biggest retained tertiary hospital in Region 8. EVRMC is also a

training hospital for Medical and Paramedical students and professionals.

As we on the innovative period, more and more technologies have been developed in

satisfaction to the need for faster and efficient services. Computers and its related technologies

were employed. On the other hand, some establishments, offices and even the hospitals of today

still are not able to optimize the full capabilities of this machine.

With this study, the recipient will enhance their manual procedure to become competitive

enough to a fast growing technology in modern. Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center of

Tacloban City is considered and taken study by the proponents of this thesis proposal for an

automated Online Patient Information and Billing System.
