GETTING READY FOR 2017

PASSION, INTEGRITY & APNAPAN

Finally time has come for the last issue of the year. Once again we have been able to produce
twenty-six issues and it is rightfully time to thank all patrons who have kept this newsletter
active through news items and thanks also to all of you who read the newsletter and provide us
feedback. The circle is growing every year and on behalf of our team we wish you happy
holidays.
In almost four months the WA State elections will be held and we also thank all the elected
members for their support to us.
Last week we collaborated with other communities to provide lunch to homeless people in
Perth.
We also launched our annual Australia Day Project appeal for 2017 and are now getting ready for
the cricket season after a thrilling finish today in Queensland.
The Seniors week grant is now acquitted and volunteer grant has been submitted. We are also
waiting on two more grant applications that were submitted earlier.
And do not forget to nominate for WA Young achiever of the year award which close on 14th
January, 2017. If you do not have time to nominate drop us a line and we can nominate on
behalf of PIA.
Happy Holidays and See you Insha Allah in 2017

FAYYAZ SUMBUL FOUNDATION MATCH IN JANUARY 2017

We are planning to have our annual cricket event in collaboration with Australian Federal
Police team in January just before Pakistan plays Australia in 3rd One day International at
WACA ground in Perth on 19th January. Please wait for an update in two weeks time.

Australia Day Project 2017

Every year we work with an organization to
help under-served families in Pakistan as part
of Australia Day Project. So far we have been
able to install water pumps, solar lights,
Cardiac diagnosis lab in addition to provision
of reading glasses (which is now regular
project). In 2016 however our Australia day
project contributed towards the WA Bushfire
Appeal.
In 2017, PIA will be supporting Zarrar Trust Hospital. There is a request of about 5000
dollars to purchase the basic equipment. We are requesting only 5 dollars from each
member which is almost price of a cup of coffee in Australia and if only 1000 members
come forward we can achieve the target. As is always the case daily update of all donations
with initials of the donors will be posted online. Once the campaign ends the full statement
will be provided to the Hospital Trust and receipt will be posted.
We launched this campaign on the eve of 12th Rabiul Awwal and already we 957 $ have
been donated. You can donate using the following link:

Zarar Shaheed Trust is named after Lt Zarar, PN. who was the pilot of that fateful Atlantic aircraft
which was shot down on 10 August, 1999 and embraced Shahadat. Its is an amazing story of
effort of his old parents, who after the loss of their son, started a noble endeavour and single
handedly started a trust after his name, constructing a hospital at Bau walla village, Burki,
Lahore.. Trust hasn't got any official or NGO support but is able, through the support of friends
and common people, to manage a health unit since 2004 and construct the basement of
hospital. More than Five hundred thousand patients benefited from health unit in these years.
We are honoured to be part of this project.
