ABOUT FARRAGUT
Farragut runs a spread option offense and 3-4 defense.
The Admirals returned 10 total starters from last seasons 10-2 team (five on
offense, five on defense).
Farraguts 10-2 finish in 2015 was their best record since 2008 and furthest
playoff advancement since 2010.
Farraguts key players include senior wide receiver Davis Simmons (199 yards, 3
TDs), senior quarterback Adam Fulton (45-81, 627 yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT), and
senior running backs Cooper Hardin and Amon Johnson. Two-way lineman
Chance Bolen anchors both lines of scrimmage.
Farragut has averaged a record of 8-4 (13 seasons) in seasons where they have
beaten Bearden in the regular season since 2001, while averaging a 3-8 record
(two seasons) in that time span when losing to Bearden in the regular season.
In Farraguts three straight wins over Bearden, the Admirals have outscored the
Bulldogs 152-32.
Admiral senior kicker Joe Doyle was selected to play in the Under Armour AllAmerican game.

Hardin Valley defense slows down Bearden, 35-7
By Wyeth Wilson
After topping 50 points in each of the first two games of the season, Beardens offense got a wake-up
call on Friday night.
Hardin Valley (1-1, 1-0 Region 1-6A) held Bearden (2-1, 0-1) scoreless in the second half and never
trailed, cruising to a 35-7 victory.
Bulldog starting quarterback Dawson Houser was held out of the second half due to cramping.
They played good ball for sure, but it was more about us shooting ourselves in the foot than them
stopping us, Bearden Coach Morgan Shinlever said. We let mistakes snowball.
I was pleased with what we had as a gameplan coming in, but you cant let a team like that come in
and take advantage of mistakes, and Hardin Valley did a good job of capitalizing and made us pay.
The turnovers that plagued Bearden started early.
Following Hardin Valley quarterback Gavin Greenes one-yard touchdown sneak that put the Hawks
up 7-0 entering the second quarter, Hardin Valley linebacker Rook Landers intercepted a tipped pass
and returned it for a score, extending the Hawks lead to 14-0.
Bearden was able to get into the end zone the only time all night when Coach Shinlever decided to go
for it on a fourth-and-two. Ty Warren went 16 yards for a Bulldog touchdown on the play to cut the
deficit in half with 5:10 left in the second quarter.
Warren finished with 93 yards on 18 carries.
From there, it was all Hardin Valley.
Hawks wide receiver Thomas Clay caught touchdown passes of 66 and 15 yards to put the game out
of reach for Bearden. Clay totaled 114 receiving yards on just five catches.
Following Housers removal from the game, Beardens offense struggled to find any productivity
behind freshman quarterback Collin Ironside.
[Not having Houser] limited our offense, Coach Shinlever said. Hardin Valley did a good job of
taking away what we were trying to do.
Its hard to bounce into our counter gameplan with a freshman quarterback who has limited reps.
For the fourth straight time, Bearden fell to Hardin Valley, and for the third straight time dropped
their region opener.
After stepping into Region 1-6A play briefly, the Bulldogs will play their last non-region game of the
season next Thursday in a rivalry game against Farragut.
This isnt really going to affect us, Coach Shinlever said. We knew it wasnt our best game, and we
need to put it behind us because we need to get ready to go out and play Farragut.
Football is a game where you have to snap and clear and move on, and thats what well do.
