1. Pathologist - A pathologist is a physician who examines tissues, checks the accuracy of
lab tests and interprets the results in order to facilitate the patients diagnosis and
treatment. Lieutenant Colonel Nancy Jaax is a pathologist in the Hot Zone. Daily tasks
for pathologists include examining tissue and bodily fluid samples or performing
autopsies to find a cause of death. Pathologists can also work in a medical school. In the
medical school, they teach people on how to become a good pathologist. They also may

2. Virologist - Virologists study viruses that affect humans, animals, insects, bacteria,
fungi, and plants in the community, clinical, agricultural, and natural environments. Daily
tasks for virologists include looking at samples of viruses and examining them. Peter

universities, research is conducted. For this, they require virologists. They train and use
them for a study on viruses.

3. Veterinarian - A veterinarian is someone who treats, cures, and prevents diseases in


animals. Jerry Jaax is a veterinarian in the Hot Zone. Daily tasks for veterinarians can
include working with animals, examining, and diagnosing the animal. Veterinarians can
be found at veterinary clinics. In veterinary clinics, veterinarians take care of any pets
that arrive there. If the pet has a problem, they give injections or any other kinds of
medicine in order to help the animal.

4. Epidemiologist - Epidemiologists are scientists who study diseases within populations of
people. Daily tasks include collecting and analyzing data from populations of people. Dr.
Joseph McCormick is an epidemiologist in the Hot Zone. Epidemiologists can be found
working at hospitals. At hospitals, epidemiologists seek to reduce health problems and
other health risks. Also, people who are sick or having problems go to a hospital for
examination.

5. Microscopist - Microscopists study a variety of objects and materials that are too small
to be seen by the human eye. They use microscopes to determine the makeup and
characteristics of materials, usually in a laboratory setting. Daily tasks include using a
microscope to examine different objects. Thomas Geisbert is a microscopist in the Hot
Zone. Microscopists can be found at universities. Universities require the expertise of
microscopists in order to examine any kind of material. Students study at universities in
order to be able to become a microscopist.
