BILL No. 01: PRELIMINARIES (quantities in this Bill are for ALL
WORKS under this Tender)
Notes
If the Engineer's Representative is of the opinion that any item in this
section has not been fully attended to by the Contractor, the Engineer's
Representative may adjust amounts quoted by the Contractor for the
items concerned.
The Tenderer is required to visit the site of the proposed work, as it is
their responsibility to ascertain the conditions governing access to the
site, the external working space, storage area etc.,
Cost and expenses in connection with any other preliminary item which
is not listed below, but is necessary for the due completion of works, is
deemed to be included in the tender rates.
Mechanical plant and equipment which emits excessive noise, smoke,
fumes, obnoxious gases etc., will not be allowed to be used in the site,
without the prior approval of the Engineer's Representative.
The contractor shall be responsible for any loss or damage to the
works, existing structures, adjoining structures and unfixed materials.
The contractor shall be responsible for providing necessary lighting,
watchmen, and other suitable security measures during construction
until handing over.
If no price has been stated against any item hereunder the Contractor
will not be entitled to claim any money for such items even though he
is obliged to execute the work or provide services described therein.
Preliminary items priced by the Tenderer are deem to include the cost
of not-priced items.

Cost and expenses in connection with providing any protective netting,


fencing, screens, barricades, railing, walk-ways at site and any other
safety precautions to the required standard, is deemed to be included
in the tender rates unless otherwise measured separately.
The Tenderer shall read, understand and acquaint himself with the
requirements in the Conditions of Contract, Specifications, Instructions
to Bidders and Bidding Data. It is the Tenderer's responsibility to see
that their price includes for compliance with all the above
requirements whether specifically referred to in the Bills of Quantities
or otherwise.

Allow for providing safety and security for the Works and material as
per the requirement laid under the Contract, including security lighting,
lockable or open material storage areas, engaging security guards
and / or any other measures as necessary.

1.2

Allow for all costs in connection with preparing samples for testing,
including making arrangements for testing of materials, goods etc, as
stipulated in the Specification, obtaining test reports and submitting
same to the Employer's Representative.

1.3

Allow for maintenance of site including removing debris, cleaning


and keeping the site tidy at all times to the approval of the Employer's
Representative until completion, leaving all in good order in handing
over.

Allow for providing all necessary safety measures to workmen. The


bidder shall submit his comprehensive safety plan with description and
number in each safety device and other safety equipment proposed.
The Employer's Representative has the right to determine a
percentage on this item due to the Contractor, or he may suspend,
reduce or delete the item from any Contract Payment if, in the opinion
of the Employers Representative, the Contractor is not fulfilling his
obligations.

Allow for employing suitably qualified and experienced technical


personnel on full time basis for contract and proper execution of
contract work at the site. The Contractor shall employ such technical
personnel as specified in the Conditions of Contract.

45 x 2mm thick door frame profile mild steel section framing, 50 x 50 x
3mm square tube transoms and mullions, 1.6mm thick (gauge 16)

galvanized mosquito gauze wire at the top 500m portion, to match
existing renovated rooms. Rate shall include for removal of existing
door, supply & installation of approved locks, iron mongery, final finish

Windows
Double leaf mild steel casement window, overall size 900 x
1600mm high; comprising of 135 x 45 x 2mm window profile steel
section framing, 40 x 40 x 2mm square section transoms and mullions,
1.6mm thick (gauge 16) sheet metal panels with approved expanded
metal mesh and galvanized mosquito gauze wire externally and top
300mm, to match existing renovated rooms. Rate to include

Note

Except where specifically stated, all costs associated with provision of


all holes, openings, chases, ducts and other builders' work required for
installation and make them good, shall be included in the rates.
Where reference is made to certain manufactures' products and items
identified by registered trade marks, this has been done for the sole
purpose of defining and establishing standards of quality and
performance and not with the intention of restricting the procurement
of material or fitting to a particular manufacturer.

Note

Testing and commissioning of the electrical installation is to be carried


out by the contractor and inspection report to be submitted according
to the requirements of the power supply authority. Cost of such testing
and reports to be included in the rates.

Note

All types of fittings, materials, painting and finishes shall be approved


by the Engineer prior to installation.

Note

Electrical Items (MCB,RCCB etc.) without an accredited agent in the


country shall not be accepted and guarantee cards (for fans etc.)
should be provided from the accredited agent when necessary.

Note

MCCB, MCB shall be as manufactured by Merlin Gerin , F&G, Moler or


equivalent & approved by the Engineer.

5A Socket Outlet
Supply & installation of 5A socket outlet to comply with relevant
standard (Clipsal, Orange, Crabtree/ Tenby/ABB or equivalent). Wiring
(including supply of earth wire & all other material required ) of above
socket outlet using approved type 2.5mm2 PVC insulated PVC
sheathed copper cable & 2.5mm2 earth wire drawn through securely
fixed concealed PVC conduit in a ring circuit.

Fittings & Equipments


Ceiling Fans
Supply and installation of 56" sweep ceiling fan (KDK, National or
equivalent) complete with regulator, fan hook, extension rod &
attachment - Guarantee cards should be provided from accredited
agent before installation.
Light Fittings
Supply and installation of Ceiling mounted type fitting complete
with 36W Flourescent (Philips or equivalent) Lamp suitable for indoor
use including all other necessary accessories.
Supply and installation of wall mounted type fitting suitable for
outdoor use (weather proof) including all other necessary accessories.
Electrical Recticulation System
Cables from meter to consumer unit, drawn through securely fixed
concealed PVC conduit.
