f) Reflect
i) In a series circuit, if the IR voltage drop is measured to be the
same across two resistors, what can be said about these two
resistors?

ii) Given a series circuit, if the current measured is found to be 0 mA

and is the same in all the resistances, what would you suspect is
taking place in the circuit?

iii) Using the current and voltage drop measurements, calculate the
values of each resistor. Test each resistor with the multimeter and
discuss the differences between the measurements.

e) Reflect

Show how the formula

REQ = ( R1 x R2 ) / (R1 + R2)
Is derived from the reciprocal formula
1/REQ = 1/R1 + 1/R2

A 120 k resistor, R1, and a 180 k resistor, R2 are in parallel.

How much is the equivalent resistance REQ?

3) SUBMIT Complete the lab quiz and submit the paper copy of the lab to
the instructor prior to leaving the lab. Dont forget to clean your station,
return the box to the cabinet and turn off the station lights before you
leave.
