MAKING THE MOVE TO ORACLE DATA INTEGRATOR

FROM INFORMATICA POWERCENTER

Why ODI is a high valued choice for ETL implementation?

Oracle Data Integrator uses an innovative ELT, or Extract, Load and Transform approach to data loading. ODI leverages the investment
in Oracle Database technology to load and process incoming data, rather than separate ETL server that Informatica Power Center requires.
ODI not only guarantees the highest level of performance for data transformation and validation processes but is also the most costeffective solution.

Key Drivers for Migration to ODI

New version of BI Apps supports ODI as the ETL tool
E2E support from single product vendor Oracle
Faster data processing in ODI due to ELT architecture

Low TCO and low hardware requirements in ODI

ODI provides high efficiency for large volume of data with complex transformation needs
Leverage Powerful Oracle DB features

Infosys I2O (Informatica to ODI) Application

Informatica to ODI Conversion Application is an in- house utility built by Infosys which automates connection to
repository, creation of projects, interfaces and other project elements in ODI

Design Principle is to reduce human intervention in migration process there by reducing the time of development It uses a simple UI to trigger migration process

This utility is built on application and platform independent architecture offering lower migration cost It uses
Java and while migration Informatica Instance is not required

Effort Savings are as high as 90% for a simple interface (50% for a complex scenario) thereby saving significant
costs and rapid development

I2O Solution Capabilities and Architecture

This application fully automates the creation of Context,
Physical and Logical Topologies for Source and Targets,
creation of Oracle DB and File based Models and data
stores, creation of ODI Project, Folders and variables,
import of specified Knowledge Modules, creation of ODI
Interfaces (Yellow and Blue) and Packages in ODI.
Prerequisite for the utility is Informatica XML extracted
from Informatica Power Center Server.
Informatica transformations supported in Conversion are
Joiner, Filter, Expression, Source Qualifier, Input, Output,
Connected Lookups and Variables. These Informatica
transformations institute 80% usage in Informatica. The
application creates 100% foundation objects in ODI during
conversion providing significant effort benefits.
