Ideas for Action Terms and Conditions

1 You agree that the Entry you submit may be used by the Partnership in
any printed publication, on a Partnership website (including
www.worldbank.org and www.wharton.upenn.edu), may be uploaded
on the Partnerships social media channels, or in any other media, and
may be reproduced and displayed in any country. Your team will be
provided appropriate attribution as the submitter. You may not revoke
the permission to allow the Partnership to use your Entry as reasonable
follow-up, publicity and promotion of the competition. Although you
are agreeing to allow the Partnership to use your Entry, you remain the
sole owner of your Entry and may also continue to use it in any manner
you choose, without the requirement of any prior permission or
authorization from the Partnership. You also understand and agree that
you do not own a monopoly on any of the ideas contained in your
Entry. While the members of the Partnership do not intend to use the
Entries for their business, it may be possible that others may
independently come up with ideas, or parts of the idea, that are similar
to those in your Entry, and the fact that your Entry also contained such
ideas or parts of ideas, will not preclude others, including the
Partnership members, from using such ideas in their work.
If selected as a finalist, your Entry/ Work will be compiled in a book. You
agree that:
2 Author represents and warrants either: (A) that he/she is the sole
creator and owner of the Work and holds the complete and undivided
copyright interest to the Work; or (B) that he/she is one among joint
authors, each of whom has appointed Author as their agent for
purposes of consenting to this Assignment by signing in the space
provided below for additional authors. Author warrants that the Work
has not been published elsewhere in whole or in part and that Author
has entered into no agreement to publish the Work or any part or
version thereof. If the Work contains any material which requires
written permission for inclusion in the Work, the Author warrants that
Author has obtained such permission from the copyright proprietor and
that such permission shall be submitted to the Bank upon signature of
this Agreement.
3 Author does hereby assign, and transfer to the World Bank, its
successors and assigns, the entire right, title and interest in and to the

copyright in the Work and any registrations and copyright applications

relating thereto and any renewals and extensions thereof, and all rights
under copyright in all forms or media now or hereafter known,
including the exclusive right to publish, perform, display, reproduce,
print, distribute, and sell the Work, or any portions thereof, and to
license the exercise of any such rights, in any language throughout the
world. By signing this Agreement Author acknowledges his/her
consent to the World Bank posting the Work on its online institutional
open access repository and/or web site and making it available under a
public license, such as one of the Creative Commons licenses,
including but not limited to the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY)
license, for further use and distribution.
4 Notwithstanding the rights granted in this Assignment, the World Bank
hereby grants Author the right to:

make copies (print or electronic) of the Work for his/her own

personal use, including for classroom teaching use;

make copies and distribute copies of the Work (including via email) to research colleagues, for personal use by such colleagues
for scholarly purposes;

present the Work at a meeting or conference and to distribute

copies of such Work to the delegates attending the meeting;

include the Work, in full or in part, in a thesis or dissertation;

adapt the Work for inclusion in a scholarly publication

provided full credit is given to the World Bank as the copyright holder
of the Work. Additional rights may be granted to Author by the Bank
upon reasonable request by Author.
5 Proofs and Editing: Author will be given an opportunity to read and
correct the edited manuscript and/or proofs, within a reasonable time,
specified in writing by the Bank. If Author fails to return the edited
manuscript and/or proofs within the time specified by the Bank,
production and publication may proceed without Authors further input.

6 Reversion of Rights on Nonpublication: The World Banks initial

acceptance of the Work does not guarantee publication of the Work. If
the Bank, in its sole discretion, decides to not publish the Work, the
World Bank will notify Author of such decision whereupon the rights
granted under this Assignment shall revert to Author if Author returns
any and all sums paid to Author hereunder.

7 Arbitration: Any dispute, controversy or claim arising out of or relating

to this Agreement, or the breach, termination or invalidity thereof,
which cannot be amicably settled between the parties, shall be finally
settled by arbitration in accordance with the UNCITRAL Arbitration
rules as at present in force. The language to be used in the arbitral
proceedings shall be English.
Privileges and Immunities: Nothing herein shall constitute or be considered
to be a limitation upon or waiver of the privileges and immunities of the
World Bank Group, which privileges and immunities are specifically reserved.
