15. Alex walked 1 mile in 15 minutes. Sally walked 3,520 yards in 24 minutes. In miles per
hour, how much faster did Sally walk than Alex? (Note: 1 mile = 1,760 yards.)
To solve this problem we have to convert yards to miles. By dividing 3,520 by 1,760, we
find that 3,520 is equal to two miles. This means that Sally walked 2 miles in 24 minutes.
It also means that she walked 1 mile in half that amount of time (12 minutes).
In miles per hour, Alex walked 4mph. We know this because if Alex can walk 1 mile in

The second you see a function with a degree of 2, you know youre dealing with a
quadratic function, which means you also know its graph is a parabola. Here were told
the function (and therefore its graph) models the value of a car over a given period of
time. Since this is part 2 of the EOC, we can use our calculators to solve. By hitting y =
and entering the function exactly as it appears, the calculator will do the work of
generating a table of values for us. All we have to do after entering the function is hit
