CALEB

Tis the season for resolutions People everywhere are looking to break bad habits and create new
ones. All of this is done to ultimately better ourselves in comparison to what we were like in the past
year. So, ask yourself, what can I do better this year? Admittedly, I dont really like resolutions.
I havent really even made a New Years resolution this year. Personally, I feel as if it offers me an
excuse to put off a bad habit until a more convenient time.
Let me explain When we make New Years resolutions, whether they are things like eating healthy,
going to the gym, reading our Bible in its entirety, or even things like waking up earlier in the
morning, these are all things we should already be doing on a regular basis. Sadly, in my
experience, when I fall short of these resolutions, I find myself saying, Ill just try again, next year.
Again, by no means am I against making resolutions and bettering oneself. However, I am against
the idea that the only time we can make a resolution is at the start of the new calendar year. Instead
of making huge ambitious plans for yourself this year, my request is that you set up goals that are
attainable every day! If you want to eat healthier, drink water instead of a soda at dinner time! If you
want to start working out, go outside and take a walk one afternoon. If you want to read your whole
Bible this year, start by just reading a chapter a day!
In my life, I have three small goals that I set out to accomplish each and every day. 1) Be the best
you that you can be by reflecting Christ in all that you do! 2) For every negative thought that you
have, think of three positive ones! 3) Be able to say you did your best in everything you tried to do
today! These goals, though they are vague, still require my time and focus. My goal is to be a better
follower, friend, and family member in the Kingdom of God today compared to where I was
yesterday. Each day is a good day when God wakes us up! He is gracious and loving, do your best
to become a better follower of His today!
Our life is determined not by what happens to us, but by how we choose to react! Are you better
today than you were yesterday?
With love,
