Its Not the Only Way

Today's generations are careless with their actions; currently those actions mainly seem to
be physical and involve another person. More and more young women are getting pregnant, so
more and more are aborting their mistakes as they call them. Abortion is simply the killing of
another human being. When you kill another human being you are considered a murderer;
therefore, when you abort a child you are a murderer. It seems that hormones are kicking into
high gear and quick solutions are needed; but is abortion really the best choice. Abortion should
be illegal for many reasons. Reasons as simple as contraception matters, to as complicated as
murder. Life matters even when it is still in the womb; Pro-life supports all forms- fetus to
adulthood.
The contraception portion of abortion, is based solely on the fact that some females are
performing sexual intercourse without any source of protection- condoms, birth control, i.e.believing that if they do end up pregnant, they can simply go to the clinic and schedule an
abortion, as their way of avoiding having children. In the article 10 Reasons Abortion should be

women prefer to take the risk of pregnancy to having to pay attention and use birth control
effectively. (Anderson) The following is proof that some women would rather abort than at least
attempt to prevent any pregnancy. Being used as contraception is not the only fault to abortion
another fault is that it breaks the laws of the constitution. Specifically the right to life; the

Fourteenth amendment of the US Constitution provides that no person should be deprived of

life without recourse to the due process of the law. (Anderson) When being aborted the fetus
has no way of defending itself therefore, no due process was given and in all technicality the
fetus should have never been destroyed, and the mother becomes a murderer. Abortion does not
only go against the United States constitution, but also goes against the will of God. Anderson
writes that in The Bible ... a fetus is a person from the moment of conception, Jeremiah 1:5 says
explicitly Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the
womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.(Anderson) By this he is
trying to inform women that aborting their child, whether it was a mistake or not a mistake, it is a
sin in the eyes of God and most other religions.
God sees abortion as murder; as in a sin. In the article, Surprise, Mom: I'm Against
Abortion Elizabeth Hyat writes The baby's heartbeat starts at around 12 to 18 days, so it's
murder to kill someone with a heartbeat, Miss Dahl said recently, recalling the argument she
used in class in January. When something- animal, human- has a heartbeat it is living, and if
you stop that heartbeat, whomever it belonged to, it is no longer living, it is dead. What is being
said is that when the heartbeat stops during an abortion the fetus or baby has been destroyed and
killed. This destruction of the fetus heartbeat is murder. The murder of a said fetus, could be
avoided entirely. There is more than one option when a woman ends up pregnant. Giving the
child up for adoption allows both the biological mother and the child to live a long happy life.

Hyat informs readers that, ... adoption was generally portrayed as an effort to find parents for
needy children. Now, she said, that has changed, as infertile couples desperately seek
children.(Hyat) People want to adopt in today's society. More and more adoptions are
happening every day, They think sacrifice is a good thing, particularly conservative Christian
kids. One of the main sacrifices you can give is the gift of a child to a deserving couple.(Hyat)
Adoption supports an unborn child's rights to life. In the article arguing Abortion Adam
Gopnik states One of the greatest moral achievements of human historythe full emancipation
of womenshould not be seconded to a metaphysical intuition, one with no scientific support or
even coherent meaning: that a fertilized egg makes the same moral claims as an entire
person.(Gopnik) The child even as a fertilized egg is, in technicality, a person. A person that
needs to have a full, long life, and if aborted the life that was meant for the unborn gets ripped
away before it even sees the lights of day. When it comes to abortion not only does the child's
life end, but it is possible that the mother's life could end as well. Gopnik say It is not
absolutely impossible to imagine a world in which contraception, and post-conception
medication, are so widely available that abortion indeed is safe, legal, and rare (Gopnik) The
problem with that sentence is that it is not impossible, but at the moment in today's time it is.
Although there are plenty of reasons to be against abortion, a lot of individuals still
believe it should be legal and that abortion is pro-choice. In the article Top 10 Reasons
Abortion Should Be Legal Dave Anderson informs readers on opinions of those who think

abortion is a good thing. The reason he explains is my body, my choice, in this portion of the
article Anderson explains Every person has an inherent and undeniable right over their own
bodies, and as such, it is their choice to do with it as they please. (Anderson) If this statement is
true shouldnt the fetus get a say as to what is being done to its body, or are the rules excluded
just in its case. Anderson also says that if abortion is banned, it risks illegal abortion Prior to the
recognition of this procedure and the modernization of medicine, back-alley abortions used to be
via coat hangers, illegal or unregulated pharmaceutical products, knitting needles or a punch to
the stomach.(Anderson) Anyone who attempts to abort a child in any of these ways, should be
hospitalized for self-harm and for the harm of another. Another defense Anderson makes is that
with modern medicine abortion is less of a risk. What people do not realize is that even though
there is less of a risk, the risk itself is still there, it is not gone, and it is just not as likely.
Murder is a crime; dont commit a crime just because a mistake was made. It was the
original persons choice to have intercourse, not the fetuses. When someone abort a child, that
person is taking away the fetus choice to live. If the problem is taking care of the child there are
other options. Options like adoption. Just because the one carrying the child does not want it,
someone else might; abortion isn't the only way. Pro-life does not mean that the biological
mother has to keep the child after birth, it just means that the child should not be terminated and
should get a chance at life.
