Project: Manhattan West Crane Runway
High Steel Structures LLC provided 1,356 tons of structural steel used in the temporary steel crane platform
and runway for the installation of the massive post-tensioned pre-cast segmental concrete aerial platform
for Manhattan West, with a seven million square foot development above an active rail yard in New York
City. The aerial platform comprises over half of the site's five acres, and serves as an outdoor plaza
providing pedestrian access to the high-rise towers and other buildings on the site.
The scope of High Steel's contract included the fabrication of heavy five-foot deep longitudinal box girders
and boxed in, braced rigid "spider" column assemblies, with heavy columns featuring W14 X 730 wide
flanges with 4" cover plates on both sides, some of which had a total weight of over 26 tons.
Additionally, the project scope included the design of the bolted and welded connections.

Project: The Foley Athletic Center at the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY
Butler Manufacturing of Annville, PA, and High Steel teamed up to fabricate the steel framing used to build
the new Foley Athletic Center at West Point. Butler had the lead on designing the frames and called upon
assistance from High Steel as an efficient approach to making the larger framing components for the
project. In all, more than 825 tons of steel were used to construct the facility.
Following a year-long process of design and construction planning, it was determined that a pre-engineered
steel building system would be best suited to create the unique features planned for the new 92,400square-foot building. The indoor training facility is unlike the field houses or athletic facilities found on most
college campuses. The building has unusually high (65 feet) ceilings to accommodate punting, kicking, and
return drills.
The project was funded by the largest single donation in the history of the federal Service Academiesa
$15 million donation to West Points Association of Graduates from Bill and Carol Foley. Mr. Foley
graduated from the Military Academy in 1967 and was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air
Force where he reached the rank of Captain.

Project: Selective Catalytic Reduction System - PSE&G, Jersey City, NJ
When E&H Steel of Alabama was awarded the 5,000 ton steel fabrication package for the construction of a
new Selective Catalytic Reduction System at PSE&Gs Hudson Generating Station in Jersey City, NJ, the
company turned to High Steel for help with the heavy built up portions of the package.

This scope of the work includes fabricating twenty built up columns and eight large trusses. An unusual
design, the truss chords are comprised of plate girders with two-inch webs full-penetration welded to fourinch thick flanges. The finished trusses weigh 1,500 pounds per foot and are 14 feet deep. High Steel is
fully assembling the trusses prior to shot blasting and painting them at its Lancaster facility. High Transit is
delivering the completed trusses to the job site.
High Steels ability to shop-assemble and deliver these large pieces saved the contractor a great deal of
time and effort in erecting the pieces at the jobsite.
PSE&G's project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2010.

Project: National Museum of American Jewish History Philadelphia, PA
The National Museum of American Jewish History is constructing a new 100,000-square-foot, five-story
building on Independence Mall in Philadelphia that will stand directly across from the Liberty Bell, two
blocks south of the National Constitution Center, and one block north of the birthplace of American liberty,
Independence Hall.
Berlin Steel of Malvern, PA was awarded the steel package for this project and put together a team to
handle the fabrication and erection. In addition to the beam and column requirements there were 17
complex plate girders. High Steel Structures worked closely with Berlin Steel throughout the budgeting and
bidding stage of the project, and was selected to fabricate and deliver the plate girders. Due to job site
restrictions and the lack of lay down space, our ability to coordinate shipments directly from our shop to
under the hook was essential to the success of the project.
The new Museum, which will serve as a cornerstone of the modern-day American Jewish community, is
dedicated to telling the still unfolding story of Jews in America. The Museum will welcome all people,
inviting them to discover what they have in common with the Jewish experience in America, and to explore
the features that make this history distinctive.

Project: Curtiss-Wright Electro-Mechanical Corporation Manufacturing Plant, Cheswick, PA
High Steel teamed with Butler Heavy Structures on the 48,000-square-foot Curtiss-Wright ElectroMechanical Corp.s $62 million manufacturing plant in Cheswick, PA.

Formerly a unit of Westinghouse, Curtiss-Wright manufactures reactor coolant pumps for nuclear reactors
and other products. The company, which is in a high growth mode, has been awarded the Westinghouse
contract for four Generation II reactor coolant pumps and pump seals for the Tennessee Valley Authority.
The manufacturing plant was designed by Butler Heavy Structures, and had some unique challenges to be
met. The critical requirement of the Curtiss-Wright building was a 300-ton crane capacity. In order to handle
this capacity, Butler Heavy Structures designed 90-foot stepped columns. The outside flange is a flat plate
that runs continuously to the steel rafters. The inside flange is a wide flange section that stops at the crane
rail level. In all, High Steel fabricated 610 tons of steel for these heavy framing members and crane girders.
The tight schedule, which required precise phasing, was a challenge that High Steel met. High Steel was
able to expedite the project and remain flexible. Another plus was location. Just over three hours from the
erection site outside Pittsburgh, the 90-foot stepped columns could be shipped from High Steel in one
piece.

Project: Two Metal Buildings To DDM Properties
Rutherford Construction Corp. recently completed the supply and construction of two pre-engineered metal
buildings to DDM Properties for Jos Globe Distributing CO, a retail beer distributorship in Morgantown,
West Virginia. The project involved the supply and construction of a fifteen hundred square foot building
attached to a new five-thousand six-hundred twenty-five square foot Olympia Steel Buildings also
supplied and constructed Rutherford Construction Corp.
The attractive new building has lightstone colored exterior wall sheeting with fern green colored trim,
gutters and downspouts. The innovative paint used on the Olympia Steel Buildings comes with a forty-year
limited warranty, making for a maintenance-free exterior that never needs painting. This high-technology
paint coating is a cool coating designed to act as a thermal barrier to reflect the suns rays, keeping the
insides of metal buildings up to twenty percent cooler and reducing HVAC costs year-round.

Project: Texas Metal Buildings Project
Ark-La-Tex Services contracted with Rutherford Construction Corp. for the supply and construction of new
facilities using two large Olympia Steel Buildings pre-engineered metal buildings. The construction project
that Rutherford completed for Ark-La Tex Services consists of two metal buildings, one 32,000 sf preengineered steel building to be used as a warehouse, and the other a 9,000 sf pre-engineered steel
building to house office facilities for Ark-La-Tex Services.
Ark-La-Tex Services, an oil field services company out of Carthage, Texas. Ark-La-Tex Services has
provided oil field services to the oil industry in the quad-state area since 1997, providing septic systems,
water tanks, dumpsters, trash trailers, portable toilets, holding tanks and potable water. After fourteen years
in the business, owner, Rodney Wooten and his wife Margaret decided it was time for the company to grow.
They had ambitious plans for positioning the company as a leading player in the region. Integral to their
plans was the construction of modern new facilities that would not only be a perfect fit for the current
company size, but construction that could easily expand to accommodate the projected future growth and
recognized that pre-engineered steel buildings could provide the flexibility their plans demanded. facilities.
