Considering that 25-30% of the waste that has a recyclable value is getting managed through
unprofessional and professional means, if we can handle the bulk of 65-70%, i.e. compostable
then we can easily improve the condition of waste management in our cities.
The reason we prefer composting over other processes is because it is simpler to implement, it involves
low-investment / capital, huge demand of organic compost as India is Agriculture-centric, low
maintenance, low operational cost, etc.
The traditional methods of composting such vermi-composting, open-pit composting, open-bed
composting etc. have not been successful due to several reasons:
Various mechanized systems have also been developed and put into use to take care of the above
problems. However, these machines are costly, require skilled-operator, significant area and
infrastructure. Another problem with these machines is improper leachate management which causes
unsanitary conditions such as smell, flies at the composting site or facility.
GreenBandhus Solution:
GreenBandhus Technology Rapid Composting Technology has been designed and developed to
take care of all the above problems and ease out the process of composting. Our process has three
(3) basic steps:
Step 1: Reducing the volume of waste through crushing or shredding.
Chipy Chopy Organic Waste Crusher or Shredder
Step 2: De-watering excess moisture from the waste.
Squeezy De-watering System
Step 3: Curing the crushed and de-watered waste in closed, well-aerated containers.
RoliMoli System or Mulchy Bulchy System
We also have systems to convert all the garden waste and horticulture waste into mulch or manure.
Please see below the process flows for both food-waste composting and garden-waste mulching.
The segregated waste is passed through the Chipy Chopy Organic Waste Crusher which is connected to
the Squeezy De-watering System. Water is sprayed into the Crusher to help macerate the waste easily
and then the De-watering System squeezes out 95% of the excess moisture from the waste. The output
from the De-watering System is semi-dry bio-mass of less than 2 mm in particle size.
The output is then mixed with a measured quantity of natural calcium carbonate (Lime Powder or CaCO3)
to neutralize any acidic content. Then the mixture is mixed with carbon-rich material such as shredded
leaves, etc.
This mixture is fed into the RoliMoli Composters or Mulchy Bulchy Systems for curing. The curing time is
14 to 21 days.
At the end of the curing cycle, the output will be dark brown / black in colour with wet soil-like smell and
texture. It can be applied directly to the plants, crops etc.
The crushing and de-watering systems are electrically operated. The curing containers do not require any
electricity. The skill required to operate these machines is negligible. One worker is sufficient to manage
the entire operation.
Technical Details:
Our systems are capable of managing varied quantities of waste: 1 kg per day to 6-8 tonnes per day.
The Chipy Chopy Organic Waste Crusher has a capacity to crush 1 kg of waste per hour to 1 tonne of
waste per hour with horse-power ranging from HP to 10 HP.
The Chipy Chopy Organic Waste Shredder has been designed to shred all kinds of waste including
leaves, branches, etc. with horse-power ratings up to 40 HP.
The Squeezy De-watering System has been designed to operate with 1 HP to 5 HP motor ratings and can
to 10 kg to 100 kg per hour. The De-watering System is available in two (2) models Screw-type and
Hydro-type.
The RoliMoli Composter and Mulchy Bulchy System are made of special material to cure the waste faster
and without any issues such as smell, flies, etc. Leachate is held within the system and not allowed to
drain out ensuring high nutrient value in the compost.
The process is a combination of aerobic and anaerobic decomposition.
Project Details:
GreenBandhu has setup De-centralized Rapid Composting Technology in various cities across India
Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Patna etc. Our clients are housing
societies, institutions, industries, hotels, builders, municipalities, etc.
