WHAT IS ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION

Environmental pollution is called to the presence in the environment of any agent (physical, chemical
or biological) or by a combination of several agents in places, forms and concentrations such that they
are or may be harmful to the health, safety, or for the well-being of the population, either, as they may
be harmful to plant or animal life, or prevent the normal use of the properties and places of recreation
and enjoyment of the same. Environmental pollution is also the incorporation to the receiving bodies of
solids, liquid or soft drinks, or mixtures of them, which always adversely alter the natural conditions of
the same, or which may affect the health, hygiene or well-being of the public.

To increase the power of man over nature and appear new needs resulting from life in society, the
environment that surrounds it deteriorates increasingly. The social behavior of man, which led him to
communicate through language, which later formed the human culture, allowed him to differentiate
themselves from other living beings. But while they are adapted to the environment to survive,
manadapts and modifies the same medium according to your needs.

Technological progress, one part and the rapid population growth, on the other hand, produce the
alteration of the Middle, reaching in some cases threaten the biological balance of the Earth.

It is not that there is an absolute incompatibility between technological development, the advancement
of civilization and the maintenance of the ecological balance, but it is important that the man knows to
harmonize them. For this purpose it is necessary to protect the renewable and non-renewable
resources and to take conscience that the sanitation of the environment is essential for life on the
planet.

Pollution is one of the most important environmental issues that affect our world and emerges when
there is an imbalance, as a result of the addition of any substance to the environment, in quantity such
that cause adverse effects in humans, animals, plants or materials exposed to doses that exceed
acceptable levels in nature. Pollution can be s...

WHY IS THERE POLLUTION?

Contamination occurs for various reasons, in short is a malaise that occurs in the various States of
ecosystems, the action directly, indirectly or both agents and processes that are alien to the natural
environment, which for some reason (usually by men) into the natural order. But a more
anthropocentric position would say that you could not live without polluting, forming part of human
nature, namely there is pollution there is man. Then it is necessary to work to reduce the negative
impacts that produces pollution. Environmental Sciences allow to evaluate the impacts that man
produces and mitigation measures for the effects produced by pollution, which many times not can it
be quantified economically constituting what environmental economists define as negative
externalities.

TYPES OF AIR POLLUTION. WATER POLLUTION:

It is the water of impurities, such as microorganisms, chemicals, industrial wastes, and other types or
waste water. These substances impair the quality of the water and make it useless for the intended
applications.
SOIL CONTAMINATION:

It is the incorporation into the soil of foreign matter, such as garbage, toxic waste, chemicals and
industrial wastes. Contamination of soil produces a physical, chemical, and biological imbalance that
adversely affects plants, animals and humans.

AIR POLLUTION:

It is the harmful addition to the atmosphere of toxic gases, or others that affect the normal development
of plants, animals and that negatively affect the health of humans.

CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION.

DOMESTIC SOLID WASTE

INDUSTRIAL SOLID WASTE
EXCESS FERTILIZER AND CHEMICALS
SLASH
BURNING
GARBAGE
VEHICLES CARBON MONOXIDE
BLACK OR POLLUTED WATER INTO THE SEA OR RIVERS DRAINS

CONTAMINATION CLASSES.
QUMICA:

It refers to specific chemical compound introduced into the environment

RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINATION:

It is the derivative of the dispersal of radioactive material, such as enriched uranium, used in medical
facilities or research reactors, nuclear power plants, reinforced with metal alloyed with uranium
ammunition, submarines, artificial satellites.
THERMAL POLLUTION:

It refers to the emission of fluids at elevated temperature; It may occur in water courses. The increase
in the temperature of the medium decreases the solubility of oxygen in water.
NOISE POLLUTION:

It is the pollution due to the noise caused by the industrial, social activities and transport, which may
cause discomfort, irritability, insomnia, partial deafness etc.

ELECTROMAGNETIC POLLUTION:

It is produced by radiation from the electromagnetic spectrum affect electronic equipment and living
beings.

LIGHT POLLUTION:

It refers to the brightness or glow of light in the night sky produced by reflection and diffusion of artificial
light in the gases and particles from the air produced by excesses of lighting.
VISUAL CONTAMINATION:

It is usually produced by industrial facilities, buildings and infrastructure which impair the aesthetics of
the environment.

PREVENTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION.

DO NOT BURN OR CUT PLANTS, CONTROLLING THE USE OF FERTILIZERS AND

PESTICIDES.
DO NOT DISCARD WASTE IN INAPPROPRIATE PLACES.
REGULATE THE URBAN TOILET SERVICE.
CREATE CONSCIENTIOUS CITIZEN.
CREATING LINES OF DRAINS FOR INDUSTRIES.
MONITOR ACCIDENTAL SPILLS OF OIL.
CONTROL THE TAILINGS.
