I was given the verse at the top. I interpreted this as saying that if we all stay faithful and keep
our covenant with God, then we shall have peace between others. If we stray from our path, then
disaster follows. For instance, if one of us steals from another, then the victim can become angry
and act violently or start accusing falsely. This only causes more problems. One thing leads to

another, and sin enters the community. The truth will come out though, one way or another. If
that person decided to resist the temptation to steal and stayed faithful, then nothing bad would
happen. Say that that person does steal from his neighbor, he could solve the problem by taking
responsibility and telling the truth. Now he might gain the victims forgiveness, but he stills needs
to be forgiven by God through reconciliation. Only then, can she/he be truly back walking in the
light as Jesus does. The conditional is true because we would only have peace and fellowship
with each other if and only if we walk in the light as Jesus does. The converse is also true, for
similar reasons. We would only have fellowship if we could maintain an amicable feeling for
each and every one. To do that you need to follow Gods commandments, because they are the
best way to maintain society. The inverse is true for the same reasons as the conditional. If we
cant respect each other, then we cant maintain friendly association. If we cant maintain the
peace and friendship, then we cant walk in the light, because we dont respect each other and
their belongings. When we break the fellowship, then sin enters, and ruins friendships and
families. It can break the strongest ties, the tie between you and God. In the book of Exodus,
when they broke one of Gods laws, they hurt their relationship with God and each other. It is
hard to gain someones trust back.
