blasts from the past as new seasons of old
shows are being released, leaving fans wanting more.

beloved shows, Gilmore
Girls and Fuller House
are making a comeback,
streaming on Netflix.
Four new episodes of Gilmore Girls
were released on November 25, 2016, leaving
faithful fans happy, but
also wanting more than
just four episodes.
The four episodes released represented each of the four
seasons, Spring, Summer,
Fall, and Winter. Each
episode lasts ninety minutes and explains what
happened in each season
of the characters lives.
The series picks
up about eight years after Photo: Netflix
the main characters, Rory
and Lorelai, were last seen. With the same
characters returning, questions were answered and past relationships were tested,
revealing more about the characters than
audiences have seen before.
While Gilmore Girls has already
been released, the arrival of the second season of Netflixs original series Fuller House

will soon return.

This throwback spinoff show will
be back for season 2 on December 9th.
Similar to the first season, the second season is expected to contain 13 episodes, in-

cluding holiday-themed episodes for

Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years
Eve.
Despite the mixed reviews after the
airing of the first season back in February,
producer John Stamos continued a live production of the show for the true fans of Full
House.

The producers and cast recreate the

original show, but in a different manner by
introducing new cast members and plots.
Viewers can expect Nelson
Burkhard, D.J.s ex-boyfriend, and Kathy
Santoni,
D.J.s
frenemy, to join the
cast when D.J. attends
her high school reunion, and Joey Gladstones wife and children will be introduced in the upcoming
season.
Other additions to the
cast will be introduced
this season, including
Stephanie Tanners
boyfriend and a D.J.look-alike as Steves
new girlfriend. Although Mary-Kate and
Ashley Olsen are still
not rejoining the cast,
viewers can look forward to seeing a special appearance from
New Kids on the
Block.
Talk of the new shows
have excited students around the school,
who say they are excited to see what happens to the adored characters that they grew
up watching.
The release of these fan-favorite
shows will please old fans and hopefully
hook new fans.

Quentin Calling it Quits

By Quinn Tomaselli

The film world took a hit recently

as notorious director Quentin Tarantino
announced his retirement from filmmaking
following the release of his tenth film.
In a statement on Twitter, Tarantino said that his retirement is a mic drop,
coming as a surprise to many who know and
love his films.
Directing since the mid-1980s,
Tarantino has created some of the most
iconic films of the past 30 years. In 1992, he
directed his first independent film, Reservoir Dogs, now considered a hit in both cult
and critical circles. His next great success
came in 1994, with the release of Pulp Fiction, possibly one of his most famous movies created.
Tarantino wrote and directed the
iconic film, famous for its characters,
nonlinear storyline, and unique dialogue
between John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson in the film. In 1994, the film was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Sup-

Contemporary hip-hop group, A

Tribe Called Quest, released their final album on November 11th after an 18 year
hiatus. The album, entitled We got it from
Here Thank You 4 Your service features
artists such as Kendrick Lamar and Jack
White.
After MC Phife Dawg passed away
in spring of 2016, it seemed that a new
Tribe album would never be released, especially being in the 18th year of not a single
song release. Unbeknownst to the fans, the
tracks were recorded before Phifes passing,
and still have his lyrical style and wordplay.
Along with Phife Dawg, members
Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and Jarobi
White bring their own individual techniques
to the album. Certain tracks feature the musical styling of other artists, such as Solid

porting Actor for Samuel L. Jackson, Best

Supporting Actress for Uma Thurman and
Best Original Screenplay for Tarantino,
which he won.

Since then, Tarantino has continued to create iconic films that stand out
from the rest of Hollywood due to unique
storytelling and vibrant characters. He created the Kill Bill series, showing a new take
on the kung fu and fighting films of the

1970s through the life of a vengeful wouldhave-been bride. His most recent box office
hit, The Hateful Eight, tells the story of a
group of rogue cowboys trying to figure out
who is hiding their true identity, in a way
giving a Western retelling of John Carpenters 1982 film The Thing.
Tarantinos greatest box office hit
came in 2012 with the release of his take on
Spaghetti Westerns, Django Unchained.
The movie starred Jamie Foxx, Christoph
Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tarantino
favorite Samuel L. Jackson, with Waltz taking an Academy Award and a Golden Globe
for Best Supporting Actor in the film. The
film grossed a whopping $425 million,
making it his highest grossing theatrical
release.
Tarantino has released only eight
movies thus far, with no sign of a current
project in the works. After his retirement,
Tarantino plans on focusing on writing and
producing theatre productions.

Kanye West during the hook of the song.
Newer artists such as Kendrick
Lamar have full verses on the album, with
Jack White playing most of the guitar riffs,

solos, and outros. Other artists such as Earl

Sweatshirt and J. Cole are cited as
gatekeepers of the flow and extensions
of instinctual soul, referencing that
these newer artists are following the
lead that Tribe started many years
ago.
Most songs of the album
speak of the problems of todays society: discrimination, unnecessary
violence, and needless hate. They
speak of the trouble of the youth, and
politics.
One song, entitled Conrad Tokyo
talks of Trump, mentions Saturday
Night Live, and states how the election has been a mockery of true American
ideals. The final song of the album is simply
named The Donald.

Bob Dylan Wins

Nobel Prize in
Literature
By Helen Barrett

75 year old singer/songwriter Bob

Dylan has finally been awarded the 2016
Nobel Prize for literature after being nominated and rejected in previous years.
Swedish inventor, Alfred Nobel,
established the prizes via his will in 1895.
Prizes in chemistry, literature, peace, physics, and physiology or medicine were first
awarded in 1901.
The Nobel Prize in Literature has
been awarded to 113 Nobel Laureates
since 1901. It is awarded annually by the
Swedish Academy, in Stockholm, Sweden.
The recipient, as stated in Alfred Nobels
will, must produce in the field of literature
the
most outstanding
work in an
ideal direction.
Dylan was
first nomiPhoto: AP
nated for the prize in August of 1996 by
Gordon Ball. The idea originated from two
Dylan fans, journalist, Reidar Indrebo and
attorney, Gunnar Lunde. They had written
a letter to Allen Ginsberg about Dylan for
the literature prize. Gordon Ball was then
asked to write a nominating letter for Bob
Dylan by Ginsbergs office.
Ball writes in The Washington
Post that he would go on to nominate
Dylan for the next dozen years. On Thursday, October 13, Sara Danius, Permanent
Secretary of the Swedish Academy announced Bob Dylan as the winner of the
Nobel Prize for Literature. An American
has not claimed the prize since 1993 when
Toni Morrison was awarded.
Being the first lyricist to win the
prize, authors and writers praised the songwriter for winning such an honor. Dylan
often integrates literary allusions into his
songs and literary scholars have debated if
his lyrics could be considered poetry.
For weeks, Dylan ignored the
general public and the Swedish Academy
regarding the prize. The Academy was
nervous Dylan wouldnt attend the ceremony after trying to reach out to him multiple times, but two weeks after being announced the winner, the songwriter finally
responded and was stunned by the news.
He told the Telegraph, Its hard to believe. When he first found out, Dylan says
it felt, amazing, incredible. Whoever
dreams about something like that?
On December 10 of this year, the
Nobel Prize Ceremony will be held in
Stockholm, Sweden, where the awardees
will receive a gold medal, a diploma, and a
sum of money thats decided by the Nobel
Foundation.

digitally, the vinyl record is available on

their website, along with CDs, shirts, and
sweatshirts. Everything but the vinyl is
available on other sites as well.
Tribe also set up a pop-up shop in
New York City the weekend following the
albums release. The shop featured new
apparel and records of new and previous
albums and everything in the pop-up shop
has since been sold out entirely.
Whether A Tribe Called Quest
chooses to continue making music after this
album is to be determined, but as of now, it
seems that We got it from Here is to be the
last. All that remains certain is the fact that
Phife Dawg and his legacy will live on in
this new album.
The Tribe will always be remembered by the musical works of art they have
created.
