Since then, Tarantino has continued to create iconic films that stand out
from the rest of Hollywood due to unique
storytelling and vibrant characters. He created the Kill Bill series, showing a new take
on the kung fu and fighting films of the
1970s through the life of a vengeful wouldhave-been bride. His most recent box office
hit, The Hateful Eight, tells the story of a
group of rogue cowboys trying to figure out
who is hiding their true identity, in a way
giving a Western retelling of John Carpenters 1982 film The Thing.
Tarantinos greatest box office hit
came in 2012 with the release of his take on
Spaghetti Westerns, Django Unchained.
The movie starred Jamie Foxx, Christoph
Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and Tarantino
favorite Samuel L. Jackson, with Waltz taking an Academy Award and a Golden Globe
for Best Supporting Actor in the film. The
film grossed a whopping $425 million,
making it his highest grossing theatrical
release.
Tarantino has released only eight
movies thus far, with no sign of a current
project in the works. After his retirement,
Tarantino plans on focusing on writing and
producing theatre productions.
