This term indicates compliance with IEEE standard 802.3ab for Gigabit Ethernet, and does
not connote actual operating speed of 1 Gb/sec. For high speed transmission, connection to a
Gigabit Ethernet server and network infrastructure is required.

Product Description
The PowerEdge 1600SC is a highly-flexible, entry-level, dual processor
workgroup class server. It is designed to meet the needs of small-tomedium organizations as well as workgroups and remote offices in large
corporations and organizations. The PowerEdge 1600SC introduces a new
level of functionality into the entry-level dual processor workgroup
segment by offering the latest in processing, I/O, and storage technologies,
and more high availability features. The technology enhancements,
availability features, and best-in-class internal hot pluggable storage
capacity make the PowerEdge 1600SC one of the most flexible entry-level
dual-processor workgroup servers on the market.

The GC-SL chipset supports dual Xeon processors and Intel NetBurst
microarchitecture, providing a 533 MHz system bus for performance
for dual-processor-multi-threaded applications or multitasking
environments.
The next generation I/O, PCI eXtended (PCI-X or PCIx), provides high
bandwidth, low latency, and dedicated hardware interfaces between
internal chips and peripheral cards. There are 2 PCI-X slots on the
PowerEdge 1600SC 2 x 64-bit/100MHz in addition to 4 PCI slots for
6 total slots.
System Availability
The PowerEdge 1600SC offers system availability features like an ECC
memory, systems monitoring hardware, optional hot-plug hard drives,
optional hot plug power supplies, optional remote management, optional
SCSI or IDE TBU, and optional SCSI and IDE RAID choices.
