Introduction
Unilever Philippines, Inc. is a manufacturing company in the Paco, Manila whose
Chief Executive Office is Rohit Jawa. The company was established in 1927 as an oil
milling business which produced nearly 100,000 tons of coconut oil. It was formerly
known as Philippine Refining Company (PRC) until 1993. Unilever started producing
margarine in the 1930s and shampoos, toothpaste and some non-soap detergents
in the 1960s and 1970s. In the 1980s it also introduced sulphonation technology
and cogeneration power plant in the 1980s.
Unilever Philippines, Inc. mainly manufactures everyday products like shampoo,
soap, laundry detergent, skin care products, and some food products. With its main
brands like Surf, Close-Up, Clear, Knorr and Lipton, earns 40 billion pesos as its
annual sales and gives jobs to over a thousand people, nationally.
