On behalf of the organizing committee, we welcome you to Delhi for an active
participation in two days International seminar in collaboration with Delhi Sanskrit
Academy titled Sanskrit Literature and Human Values # *
4 to be organized by Department of Sanskrit, Kalindi College, University of
Delhi, East Patel Nagar, Delhi on 2nd& 3rd March, 2017.
The objectives of the proposed seminar are that Human society cannot sustain without
human values. In the modern society we are ignoring it, so there is a need to discuss
and discover this truth in detail for the benefit of entire human race in the trouble and
divided world today characterized by infighting for supremacy over one another in the
name of religion, caste, ethnicity, language, colour etc.
We extend an invitation to all of you to participate in the Seminar. It is requested to
send the abstract of the research paper not exceeding 300 words. The abstract of
the paper should be typed in Bold, Times New Roman Font for English Text size
12 with 1.5 spacing, Krutidev, walkman-chankya & Unicode for Hindi and
SanskritText size 16 with 1.5 spacing,along with registration fee. The contributors
are requested to submit their registration fee and abstract of the paper by 25
November, 2016. Full Paper in Ms Word Format should reach the Convener by E-mail
(intl.semi.skt.kalindi2017@gmail.com) before 31 December, 2016. Also circulate the
information among your colleague faculty members and research students.
Your support is solicited in the form of encouraging them to attend this event and
make it a grand success. We are sure that without your personal interest and
association, we cannot achieve the desired success.

The Relevance of Human Values in Modern Era


India, one of the oldest civilizations of human race, is well known all over the
world for its distinct ancient culture and civilization focusing on humanism through its
philosophy of integral humanism and : . The perspective is well defined
and reflected in Sanskrit literature which developed over last ten thousand years or so
starting from Vedic Sahit to classical Sanskrit Literature.
Human values were considered the most important in ancient India. The country of
rich culture is believed to be created by God, has full of values and virtues. Even the
battles in India were based on values. The war of Kuruketra was fought for values.
Rmyaa, Mahbhrta, ukranti, VidurantiNti-ataka, Arthastra of Ckya
contains moral and human values.
Humanism mainly deals which seeks to decide norms, ideals, standards or other
values. Three important human values in our day to day life are truth, beauty and
oodness i.e.,* ? -Kautilya says that $ is the most important, $ and
are both dependent on it. Which are followed by several human values like truth, Nonviolence, Bramacharya and secularism in the life. Vedas and Upaniadas describe
about dharma and duties to be undertaken by the people. Rama was the personification
of dharma & $|
In Sanskrit Literature, ( is a Vedga which denotes the concept and
characteristics of human values. Human values cannot be forced, even if conveyed
with good intentions. Human values are based on knowledge and wisdom. They are
real source of education to every individual. Therefore, value centered education is
must to develop human values to each individual and these human values are depicted
in Sanskrit Literature. Yoga stra plays an eminent role to impart real education for
retaining the human health and values in the way of peaceful life. Values are the
concepts that describe human behavior. Truth, co-operation, non-violence, peace, love
and respect for parents, elders, authority and hard work, these human values are
leading in the history of civilization. Infact yoga is a bridge between body, mind and
spirit. It trains our attitude and gives mental peace. It is substitute of moral, spiritual
and human values.The essence of humanism as described by Manu is

Need and Justification:


Human society cannot sustain without human values. Hence, in the modern society we
are ignoring our human values so it is necessary to discuss the subject and bring about
awareness. Therefore, there is a need to discuss and discover this truth in detail for the
benefit of entire human race in the trouble and divided world today characterized by
infighting for supremacy over one another in the name of religion, caste, ethnicity,
language, colour etc. In the proposed seminar, we would like to invite the scholars of
various fields to present the research papers in the light of human values. Thus to
organize this seminar is very much relevant and justified.

Methodology:
The abstracts of the research papers will be invited from the National and International
scholars. The same will be reviewed by the review committee. On the basis of the
recommendations of the committee, scholars will be invited for presenting the research
papers.
