Artifact Justification:

Engaging and
Supporting Students
in Learning

This is an essay that addresses and justifies the use of my artifacts to

demonstrate knowledge of the TPE domain of engaging and supporting students
in learning.

The first artifact I chose to demonstrate my abilities in the domain of engaging and
supporting students learning was a lesson plan analysis. This artifact consists of three lesson
plans where I address each plan individually and analyze their effectiveness in the classroom. I
chose this artifact because one of the tenants to this domain is making content accessible.
Making the content excess of all required that I understand how to deliver a comprehensive
program of rigorous instruction that includes reading, Writing, speaking and listening, and
language within my specific discipline and content standards. Being able to analyze lesson plans,
both my own and others, is essential to making the content accessible. Is there in this analysis
that I can balance my instruction by adjusting lesson and learning plans two meet the needs of
my students.
The next artifact I chose to demonstrate my abilities in this domain of engaging and
supporting student learning was an annotated lesson plan. The reason why I chose this artifact
was because it demonstrates my ability to know and apply pedagogical theories, principles, and
instructional practices for comprehensive instruction of English learners. This lesson plan
annotation provides examples of multimedia instruction that has been shown to benefit English
language learners in the classroom. The inclusion of multi-sensory method provides students
with the opportunity to experience the content in a different any manner. By providing these
notice in three methods I am making the content more accessible for all students and supporting
the engagement of students in learning.
The final artifact that I chose to demonstrate my ability in this domain of engaging and
supporting students in learning was a literary review about the topic. This literary review
explorers the challenges that students with hearing impairments presents in the classroom.
Students with hearing impairments make it difficult for educators to make the content accessible

for them. What this literary review shows is that a hearing impairment is a form of a special need
that is considered a hidden disability because individuals with this type of disorder frequently do
not display any physical feature that suggests an impairment is present. That is a say that many
times teachers will not know that their student has this impairment and the inclusion of multisensory instructional strategies will benefit the students. What this literary review has shown is
that using a wide variety of multi-sensory instructional strategies benefits all students in the
classroom.
