Introduction
Depression is a mood disorder, commonly presenting
symptomatically as a feeling of sadness, loneliness,
inadequacy, helplessness, poor-morale and low self-esteem.1
Depressed patients experience both emotional and
psychological problems, are extremely vulnerable, and
endure difficulties due to the disease process. A variety of
perceived, beneficial, alternative interventions, external to
the mainstream, health-care system are sometimes
explored by these depressed patients, as health-seekingmeasures.2 Approximately 15-20% of depressed patients
