We are writing to introduce you to the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine
(ACNEM) and to draw your attention to the ACNEM training event in Queenstown in August. Once again,
we are grateful for the generous support of Douglas Pharmaceuticals in bringing this information to you.
ACNEM is a not-for-profit medical college established in 1982, offering postgraduate training in
Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (NEM), membership, Fellowship and a popular referral service
used by members of the public.
ACNEM training is for doctors, dentists, pharmacists, naturopaths, nurses, dieticians and other healthcare
professionals. Course content is strongly referenced and presented by medical and clinical experts, with
practical tools to aid integration into daily practice.
We hope you will consider joining us at Rydges Lakeland Resort Hotel, Queenstown, for one of the
following courses:
• Primary Course in Nutritional & Environmental Medicine (4 days, 12-15 August)
• Cancer - Biomedical influences on prevention & survival (2 days, 12-13 August)
• Brain Health, from Autism & ADHD to Alzheimers (2 days, 14-15 August)
If you have not previously trained in nutritional medicine, we suggest you attend the 4-day Primary course
before attending the more specialised 2-day courses, however this is not a pre-requisite.

available in the face-to-face course due to time constraints.
Alternatively, if you attend both the Cancer and Brain Health courses in Queenstown, you will receive a
credit towards a half-price online 2-day course (a saving of up to $495), valid for up to 3 years.
If you are unable to attend this event in Queenstown, please consider joining us online for distance
learning in the future. We will be introducing more online courses later this year.

Primary Course in NEM Cancer, “Every Third Person”

(4 days, 12th-15th August)
A practical, evidence-based, foundation program in NEM
for GPs and other graduate health professionals.
Course material is drawn from the current scientific and medical
literature and the clinical experience of the ACNEM Faculty.
Content includes:
• Nutritional, environmental and biochemical factors in
physical and mental health, including importance and
role of diet and nutrients, nutrient values of soil and
foods, diet and dietary prescribing
• General principles of, and basis for practising NEM
• Understanding the role of the gut as well as the outer
environment in health and well being
• Emphasis on the individuality of the patient
• Diagnosis of disease, as well as conditions underlying or
predisposing to disease states, and their treatment and
prevention
• Lifestyle considerations
• Clinical assessments and diagnostic tools for integration
into daily practice
The Primary Course is a prerequisite for the ACNEM Fellowship
Program for doctors.

Individual diagnosis & therapies based on assessment of
genetics - the latest science and practical applications for
prevention and survival.
This 2-day course will explore the latest science in early cancer
detection and disease management, including the emerging field
of Circulating Tumour Cells. Lecturers include Dr Joachim
Fluhrer, Dr Russell Cooper and international experts. Please see

Brain Health, from Autism & ADHD to
Alzheimers (2 days, 14th-15th August)
The latest biomedical approaches in brain health.
This training program will bring together international and local
experts in the field of ASD, Autism, Alzheimers, neurobiology and
developmental aspects of depression. Neurofeedback, brain re-
training and HBOT, and heavy metal effects on brain health will
also be explored. Please see the website for more details.
The content of each 2-day course includes:
• Interactive case history presentations
• History taking, useful investigations and individual
treatment programs
