SEO: Minority enrollment increases at UMD 8.7 percent
Diversity at university increases 8.7 percent while overall enrollment only increases 1 percent
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- According to data released by the Office of University Relations, minority
enrollment increased by 8.7 percent this academic year. This increase in diversity can be seen with the
new amounts of black, American Indian, Asian, and Hispanic students. The universitys diversity has
reached close to 2,000 students out of the 24,500 students.

The increase in minority students is a gratifying sight for the many students, faculty and
administrators who have worked for it, university President Wallace D. Loh said. We still have more to
do, this is only the beginning.
