Dear Friend,
Greetings to you from everyone at the Full Gospel
Lighthouse Church in Torrington, CT. The Bible says, “The Lord is merciful
and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy” (Psalm 103:8). I have
found that to be true over and over again! He has a never-ending supply of mercy
towards people. In this psalm, David went on to say, “He hath not dealt with us
after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven
is high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him”
(versus 10 & 11). I think everyone can say a big, “Amen!” to that! If God were to
deal with us as we deal with each other the whole world would be a pile of ashes.
No one would escape alive! But thank God He is merciful and kind to us, slow to
anger and very gracious. He is not willing that any should perish but that all would
come to repentance.
There is a man that has come back to church after being away for many
years. He is a good man but the way the world is going he needed more out of life
than just a barbeque and a game. He found out his work place is laying people off
this summer and it got him really thinking about his life. He decided to come back
to church, give an offering, say a prayer and hope for the best. He really wasn’t
expecting a lot. But during one church service he told the Lord whatever He wants
of him he would give Him. And something happened: the Holy Spirit came upon
him and he couldn’t help himself from crying and he suddenly became filled with
the Spirit! The Holy Spirit completely changed him! It’s been a few weeks now
and he is still walking in that victory. He testified the other night at church and
quoted a couple of Scriptures he read recently that blessed him and stirred him to
get closer to God. He now knows that Jesus died on the cross for him and not just
the world in general. Unless you come to that place where you know Jesus died
personally for you on the cross even the Word of God will have very little effect
on you. But when you realize the Lord Jesus died for your sins and faults and
errors and iniquities, there is no limit to what the Lord will reveal to you from His
Word!
There are experiences we can have with the Lord but unfortunately many
people don’t have them because they don’t know they can have them. God didn’t
just leave us out here on this planet to try to figure it all out on our own. He has a
plan and purpose for your life which He will fulfill if you give Him your heart. He
told us in His Word, “Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you” (James
4:8). He is very positive about that. There is no “maybe” there, or “possibly” in
this statement. I would rather put my faith in what the Bible says than in what
others say, because over the years I have found that the Word of God is true. This
is a definite promise to everyone who will receive it: “Draw nigh to God, and He
will draw nigh to you.” Nothing could be plainer than that! Many people facing
impossible situations have taken hold of this one verse of Scripture and found the
Lord to be very close to them in times of trouble. But He did not restrict it to just
times of trouble. There is no time-limit on this promise. As a matter of fact, this
verse is not a suggestion: it is definitely a command! Everything He is and has is
at the disposal of those who will obey and draw nigh to God. The greatest blessing
in my life is that I know Him because I did what He said. Another verse says,
“The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him
in truth” (Psalm 145:18). The lone limitation on this verse is that He is nigh only
to them that call upon Him. So why aren’t we calling upon Him? You can have
the Lord draw near to you, and He can answer that prayer of yours, and, yes, He
does love you as mush as anyone else!
We are not given this gift because of anything we did, but God made this
promise because of what the Lord Jesus did. Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in
Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of
Christ.” You actually honor God by recognizing what Jesus did on Calvary’s
cross to bring you to God. So let’s take advantage of His grace and draw nigh to
Him today!
May God abundantly bless you today and always and please remember that
our church is praying for you, that you will come to the full knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ and be enriched by Him in everything to do His will. If you
have a prayer request and would like us to believe God with you, please call us at
860-489-4137. If you don’t have a church you regularly attend I invite you to
ours. We are the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church located at 624 Torringford West

and Wednesday at 7:30 PM.
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
