2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR TABLES

Following is the basic structure of tables:

Row 2

.77

Row 3

Note: This is where authors provide extra information important to the data such as statistical
significance depending upon the p-value.
**: Significant at .01 level of significance

Numbers: Number all tables with Arabic numerals sequentially. Do not use suffix letters (e.g.
Table 3a, 3b, 3c) instead, combine the related tables.
Title: Each table must have a clear and concise title. These elements appear above the table.

3. INSTRUCTIONS FOR FIGURES

Figure 3: Histogram

For figures, make sure to include the figure number and a title. These elements appear below the
visual display. For the figure number, type Figure X: Then type the title of the figure in sentence
case.
In preparing figures, communication and readability must be the ultimate criteria. Avoid the
temptation to use the special effects available in most advanced software packages.

4. PREPARATION OF THESIS
4.1 Font Directions
Good quality white bond paper of the size A4 size must be used. Times New
Roman writing font style is recommended throughout the thesis. The text must be
12-pt.
4.2 Margins
Set margins to 1 inch at the left side, at the top, bottom, and right side.
4.3 Spacing
Double spacing for the entire document including subsections. Tables and figures
must be single-spaced using double-spacing where necessary for clarity. No
paragraph should be indented throughout the document. All paragraphs must be
justified.
4.4 Pagination
All pages must be numbered. Pages of abstract and acknowledgements should bear
Roman numbers (i, ii, iii, iv, v, vi etc), whereas pages from introduction onward
should be given Arabic numbers (1, 2,3,4,5 etc,) in the right corner of the page at the
top. No running head/page header and footer should be used.
4.5 Headings
There are five levels of headings. The format of each level is illustrated below:
Headings
Level

Format

Centered, Boldface, Uppercase and Lowercase Headings (Font :16-pt)

Left-aligned, Boldface, Uppercase and Lowercase Heading (Font: 14-pt)

Indented, boldface, lowercase heading. (Font: 14 pt)

Indented, boldface, italicized, lowercase (Font: 12 pt)

Indented, italicized, lowercase heading. (Font: 12 pt)

Each level of heading must be indicated by number except when heading one is assigned to the
title of chapter. In this case, section heading receives level two format. Subsections receive level
three and so on. For example:

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION (level 1)

1.9 Operationalization (level 2)

1.9.1. Transformational Leadership (level 3)
1.9.1.1. Transformational Leadership Measure (level 4)
