LETTER OF INQUIRY

2345 Walter Way

Green Bay, WI 54311
October XX, 20XX
Ms. Susan Lowery
Internship Coordinator
Associated Bank
123 Adams Street
Green Bay, WI 54303
Dear Ms. Lowery:
During the Fall Job and Internship Fair at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, I had the
opportunity to visit with Stella Burke, your College Recruiting Manager. She suggested that I
contact you directly to receive more information about your summer internship program.
Through a course on financial institutions, I was exposed to many aspects of commercial
banking. This represents a career opportunity that would allow me to combine my interest in
finance and my strong interpersonal skills which I have developed through my various work
experiences and campus activities. To compliment my academics and present work experience, I
would hope to participate in an internship during the summer of 20XX.
I would appreciate any information that you could forward to me about your summer internship
program. If you have any questions, I can be reached at (920) 883-XXXX. I look forward to
receiving the information and speaking with you soon. Thank you for your time and
consideration.
Sincerely,
Janet L. Smith

Letter of Making A Reservation

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to ask you for some information about the Bella Vista Hotel that you direct. The
parents of an English friend of mine are visiting our country next week and they would like to
stay at your hotel from Tuesday 16th at 18:05 to Monday 22nd at 14:45.
They would be interested to know if they could make a room reservation for those days. Could
you also let me know if there is a double room with bathroom available? Furthermore, it would
be nice if they could look at the seafront of the city from the rooms window.
On the other hand, they are vegan people, so they would like to know if the hotel restaurant
serves vegetarian dishes.
Moreover, they would also be interested in taking part in some scheduled trips if that was
possible.
Finally, would you mind telling me what the price is? Is breakfast included in the price?
Thank you in advance for considering my application.
I look forward to hearing your answers.

Yours faithfully,

Sara Gonzlez.

Letter of Recommendation
January 7, 2015

To Whom It May Concern:

It gives me great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for John Smith. I have worked
side-by-side with John for the last seven years in the finance department at 3M Corporation. For
three years, John served as a financial analyst and was a direct report to me. John was later
promoted to the Manager Project Finances position, where we worked together as peers.
As a direct report, John was a successful, easy to manage associate, and he always gave that
extra effort to meet deadlines. John demonstrated superior analytical capabilities and soon
became an expert in the area of corporate finance. John demonstrated his leadership capabilities
when a fellow manager became ill and he was asked to step into that role. John was permanently
promoted after his team successfully developed a new quarterly closing process that reduced the
number of days required to close the books from four days to two, saving the company over
$500,000 annually.
While Ill certainly miss the working relationship I had with John through the years, Im
confident he will be able to make an immediate as well as positive impact on your organization.
If you have any questions or concerns about Johns capabilities, experience or credentials dont
hesitate to call me at the number below.
Sincerely,

Tom A. Workerbee

Letter of Complaint
56 Disgruntled Street
Somewhere Unhappy
1AM MAD
Customer Service Manager
That Awful Company
Somewhere Awful
UR BAD
June 15, 2008
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing today to complain of the poor service I received from your company on June 12,
2008. I was visited by a representative of That Awful Company, Mr. Madman, at my home on
that day.
Mr. Madman was one hour late for his appointment and offered nothing by way of apology when
he arrived at noon. Your representative did not remove his muddy shoes upon entering my house,
and consequently left a trail of dirt in the hallway. Mr. Madman then proceeded to present a
range of products to me that I had specifically told his assistant by telephone I was not interested
in. I repeatedly tried to ask your representative about the products that were of interest to me, but
he refused to deal with my questions. We ended our meeting after 25 minutes without either of us
having accomplished anything.
I trust this is not the way That Awful Company wishes to conduct business with valued
customersI have been with you since the company was founded and have never encountered
such treatment before. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss matters further and to learn of
how you propose to prevent a similar situation from recurring. I look forward to hearing from
you.
Yours faithfully,

V. Angry

Letter of Adjustment

March 29, 19XX
Complete Table, Inc.
P.O. Box 3132
Austin, TX 78703
Subj.: March 24 letter about damaged freight
Dear Mrs. Hughes:
I have just received your March 24 letter about the damaged
shipment you received through Green Tree Freight and regret
the inconvenience that it has caused you.
From your account of the problem, I am quite sure that your
request for the $240 adjustment on the damage to the 2
crates of Valjean Cristal stemware will be granted. A
certain amount of breakage of this sort does unavoidably
occur in cross-country shipping; I am sorry that it was
your company that had to be the one to suffer the delay.
If all is in order, as it sounds to be in your letter, you
can expect the full reimbursement within 2 weeks after our
representative's inspection. I hope this unfortunate
accident will keep you from having merchandise shipped by
Green Tree Freight in the future.
Sincerely,

David F. Morgan, Customer Relations
