generation to others. It impacted the condition of government and church. Although the king and
queen had priority to make nation became glorious, it was contradictory with the condition of the
people. They could not feel the glorious of their nation; they were still under the economic
prosperity. The monks did not concern anymore to their duty as the leader of religion, but they
were busy with wealth and comfort life.
Those conditions made several people hate the kingdom. They express their dislike to the
kingdom with literary work and art. Almost more than a half the literary work which was produced
had expressed the critical and satire to the government. For example, John Skeleton which his
work was satiric, mock, and criticize the church and government. The works of literary were not

English. It was William Tyndale who translated the New Testament and helped to wide spread the
language among people and church. The wealth of the royal and high class demanded their life
style to enjoy the art especially in drama. Interlude was such kind of a short play which was only for
the royal and high class.

that the birth of new spirit and new experience. The language also had been influenced by other
language, such as Arab and Greek. It was because of the trading activity among the country; so
that it enriched the vocabularies. At that time England was a nation which saw something
realistically and ready to take challenge. It was proved that under the power of Elizabeth, she
never limited or gave freedom to the artists to express their idea.

Its more secularism, when they began to know other works beside religion touch in their
works. The freedom was used by them to write poetry, prose, and even script play relating with
love, romance, and social. For example: Shakespeare whom famous with sonnet and his drama
(Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, and etc). He also received the demand from several royals to
create their biography. Related with the freedom, it was appear the variety of English prose, like
essay. The essay was reflected new philosopher and politician writer like Francis Bacon. Another
literary work that aimed to criticize Elizabeth was Alice in the Wonderland. It told about the life of
the queen at that time.
