1. This article is an interview. I find it very helpful for this research because everything that is
being said, is being said by HIM. It isnt a second retelling of information and it isnt a review.
The interview allows readers to see a small piece of his personality. He laughs at himself and
shares what inspired him to make a career shift. He makes very interesting conversation and he
lays out his plans for the future. He also talks about the recent work that he has already done and
will continue to expand on. I find all of this information very useful in constructing a well versed
paper about Kylian.
2. This article goes into detail about the final piece of dance that Kylian worked on for the
Netherlands Dance Theatre. It explains the emotions and the unique movements that Kylians
bodies of work possess. It also touches on some of Kylians long time partnerships with a
musician. It is a fairly short piece that touches a lot on the workings of Kylians last piece, so I
find it very telling of the artist.
3. This article discussed what Kylian does outside of just being a choreographer. This explains
his foundation that he created. It is described as a foundation was not about giving direct
financial support for individuals or projects, but about educational activities and the provision of
practical and moral assistance. I like this piece of information because it shows some of the
work that he has done besides being just a choreographer.
4. I like this piece because it deals with the way in which Kylian uses literature to create an
abstract form. He adapts a piece of literature to fit his style of choreography, which is an abstract
one. They use diagrams to show the actual movements/placements of dancers and how he uses
the space he is given to work with. I really enjoy this article because it allows us to go into the
mind of the creator. It highlights how he works and stages dancers. There is so much detail given
and it helps the viewer gain a better understanding of, not only the piece being presented, but
also the person creating the piece.
