Additional Comments

One 2-credit ESL speaking and listening course is offered in the fall semester and may be taken in
conjunction with courses in other disciplines.
Students submitting a TOEFL score must have a minimum 16 in each individual section. Limited ESL i
available.

A TOEFL score is required for international students who have not demonstrated English proficiency in
English-medium school.

All international applicants are required to submit proof of proficiency in the English language.
Same requirement for graduate and undergraduate. No language exam is given, but the university ex
visiting students to have sufficient command of oral and written English to complete successfully. ESL
instruction is not available; ESL tutoring is available.
The College offers two credit-bearing English as a Second Language courses in the Fall semester and o
in the Spring to help students succeed academically. Students enrolled in ESL courses combine them w
courses in other disciplines.

Students who meet the score requirement for regular admission listed above will be enrolled full-time
regular classes and will not have to take ESL classes. Conditional admission is offered to students with
TOEFL score 45-71 iBT/450-530 PBT/133-197 CBT. Students admitted conditionally will be required to
a placement test. The placement test will determine the student's access to regular academic courses
which may be limited.

Other evidence of English proficiency may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Undergraduate TOEFL scores must have a minimum 19 for the writing section and no section below 14
Undergraduate IELTS scores must have a minimum 5.5 band on writing section and no band below 5.0
Students submitting IELTS scores cannot have any subscore below 6.0. Pre-intensive ESL courses are
available through Creighton's Intensive English Language Institute for an additional fee.

English proficiency requirement is also satisfied by completing Level 112 English for Academic Purpos
(EAP) at ELS Language Centers, or the successful completion of 24 transferable semester units or 36
transferable quarter units at an English-speaking institution. (Please note that this requirement is waiv
for all students who have spent one academic year in the U.S. school system.)

Students submitting an iBT TOEFL score must have at least a 20 in each section. Graduate students
submitting the PTE must have at least a 60 in each section. ECU will accept ISEPs LPR for students co
from universities or academic program at the university that teaches only in English or if the student h
previously passed an official language program from a previous institution or program.
Limited ESL support available to students. Certified ESL tutors are available to assist international
students.
LPR only accepted for Undergraduates.
Pre-session intensive English language courses are offered by the ELS Language Center on the Eckerd
campus for an additional charge.
Edgewood only offers ONE English for Non-native speakers writing course each semester.

TOEFL scores may not have an individual subscore below 50 (PBT) or 15 (iBT). IELTS scores may not ha
an individual subscore below 5.5 (undergraduate) and 6.5 (graduate). For more information on the

TOEFL not required for ISEP students. Intensive language study is only offered to students enrolled in
undergraduate studies. Students may not enroll for language study only. If enrolled in Intensive langua
courses, regular academic course load will be reduced.
Students with a TOEFL score below 79 iBT/550 PBT/213 CBT will be required to take a placement exam
FSU. The placement exam will determine the students' English level course and access to regular
academic classes, which may be limited.
While GCSU does not offer intensive English language, a basic credit-bearing ESL course is required in
first semester for all students whose TOEFL score is below 550.
Some part-time ESL courses may be available for ISEP students if needed. Students may take ESL 009
English as a Second Language I (6 credits) or WRIT 1101 - ESL English Composition I (3 credits). The
university will recommend which, if either, ESL course is most appropriate in each individual situation
arrival.

Students that have spent a year studying in an English-speaking locale within two years of coming to
Hamline do not need a TOEFL score. Intensive English courses are available both during the academic
and pre-session; most at an additional cost to the applicant.

Hampshire is a reading and writing intensive college and classes are largely discussion based; studen
should be able to succeed in a rigorous academic environment.
During the fall and spring semesters, students who need additional English support can take one ESOL course along with th
regular academic courses.

Students will also take an English placement test upon arrival. Results of the placement test will deter
registration into courses requiring English prerequisites.
The institutional TOEFL is accepted for undergraduates only. The Graduate school requires an original
TOEFL score and transcript, but ISEP will submit a letter on the students behalf certifying that ISEP-Ce
has received an original TOEFL score. Upon arrival to LSU, the graduate student must submit original
transcripts for the semester prior to enrolling at LSU.

Mansfield University's English department offers ESL classes during the academic year. Up to four ESL
courses are possible each semester, but will be run only if enrollment permits. International students
should have enough proficiency in English to be able to complete their schedule with regular courses.

Students can be confirmed without a TOEFL, however all new students are given an English proficienc
test after they arrive at the college; any student without the required scores who does not pass the En
proficiency exam may be placed initially into the intensive English program. These students can begin
taking college courses once they have passed the proficiency exam given each semester. Pre-session
intensive English classes are offered at a discounted rate for ISEP students. This program offers six lev
of instruction from beginning to advanced. All sessions have five hours of class per day, five days a we
for full-time studies. All classes have fewer than 12 students per class; the average class size is 7-9. T
semester 1 pre-session takes place from mid-July to mid-August and the additional cost includes tuitio
some activities, housing & meals.

Students wishing to take courses offered by the Farmer School of Business (ACC, BUS, BLS, BTE, ECO,
FIN, ISA, MGT, MKT) must have an official TOEFL score of at least 89 or an IELTS score of at least 7.0.

The Honors College undergraduate program requires a minimum TOEFL score of 520 PBT/183 CBT.

To enroll in regular academic classes, students must meet the language requirements above with a
minimum TOEFL writing score of 25. The International English Program at MSSU offers courses to impr
your English regardless of your current skill level. We have classes ranging from beginner to advanced
no minimum TOEFL score required to enter the program.

through the English Language Institute (ELI). TOEFL scores with less than 15 in any individual band or
scores with less than 5.0 in any individual band will require enrollment in a corresponding ELI course
during students first semester at MSU (not included in ISEP benefits). ISEP students receive a discoun

Students with lower scores will need to take a placement test upon arrival ($50) and be prepared to ta
whatever English classes are recommended (not included in ISEP benefits).

NMSU reserves the right to require any ISEP student to take the English placement screening exam du
new student orientation and to require students with demonstrated English deficiencies to take Englis
courses designed for international students (included in ISEP benefits).

Graduate-level business requires a minimum TOEFL score of 100 iBT/600 PBT/250 CBT. NC State will n
able to accept any applicants who do not have valid TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge score reports. Excepti
are made for students whose native language is English or students who have completed at least one
of a university degree where English is an official language and the language of instruction in higher

All new international students take an in-house language test upon arrival. Based on test results, stud
may be encouraged or required to take one or more English as a Second Language (ESL) classes in
addition to or instead of regular academic classes

Exchange students can either enroll in ESL courses or regular courses but not both simulataneously.
Pitzer College requires students to read extensively, contribute verbally and in writing in class meeting
Most classes have essays and long term papers. Students who do not meet the requirements above b
have a minimum TOEFL score of 520, IELTS score of 6.5, or Michigan Placement Test score of 80 may b
accommodated in the Bridge program courses in Modern Languages and Cultures with one or two reg
college courses. Students should be forewarned that space in Pitzers Bridge program is limited.

An ESL tutor is available in the Learning Assistance and Resource Center (LARC).

All courses (with the exception of various courses within Modern Languages) are taught in English.
Students should be prepared to participate in class discussions with their peers and professors; certain
courses are also writing-intensive._x000D_

Students who do not meet the above requirement must enroll in the advanced ESL course (offered fal
term only, included in ISEP benefits) and will have restricted access to the curriculum until successful
completion of the ESL course.

ESL classes mostly non-credit and limited schedules. Only one possible 3 credit Topics course for credi
SDSU has a new ESL Institute and three levels of instruction but classes are not included in the ISEP
benefits.

LPR not accepted for English and Journalism students or graduate students. Students who do not mee
above requirement but have a minimum TOEFL score of 475 PBT/152 CBT may be accepted but will be
required to take a test upon arrival and may be required to enroll in EFL courses in conjunction with a
reduced number of regular academic courses. Supplemental English classes offered through the Lingu
department are included in ISEP benefits, but intensive EFL courses offered through our Center for Eng
as a Second Language are not. Pre-session EFL (also not included in ISEP benefits) is offered in two
sessions: late May to late June and early July to mid-August.
Students must be prepared to read and write at a very high level.

Students who have completed at least 2 semesters of academic work in English at the university leve
while maintaining a 2.0 Grade Point Average are exempt from the language requirements above. Engl
language classes (such as ESL) do not count toward the 2 semester requirement.
St. Lawrence may request additional proof of language proficiency upon review of the LPR. Students
submitting TOEFL scores cannot have a subscore below 20. St. Lawrence offers one ESL course in the
semester.

Graduate programs may require a higher TOEFL.

Students who have taken two semesters or three quarters of college-level English composition from a
accredited college or university with a C grade or better are exempt from the above requirements.
Students with TOEFL scores below 57 iBT/487 PBT/163 CBT are required to take ESL 1010 or ESL 1020

TOEFL score preferred.

Students who have taken English classes at U.S. institutions and passed those classes may have the
English proficiency demonstration waived. A waiver for this requirement is automatically granted to
students from countries where English is the native language and/or the official language for academi
instruction. Some departments may require a higher TOEFL score for graduate students. The American
Language and Culture Program (ALCP) offers intensive language instruction (additional costs may app
see the Institutional Information Sheet for details).

Undergraduates submitting a TOEFL score may not have any subscore below 17. Students submitting an IELTS score may not have any subs
below 6.0. Students with a TOEFL score below 100 iBT/600 PBT/250 CBT and those submitting the LPR in lieu of a TOEFL are required to tak
language proficiency exam upon arrival and may be required to take ESL courses (included in ISEP benefits) in conjunction with regular acad
courses. Iowa Intensive English Program (IIEP) courses are not include in ISEP benefits.

Free English tutoring is available in the Learning and Academic Advisement Center.
Undergraduate students must take a proficiency exam upon arrival if they do not have a minimum IBT
TOEFL score of 23 for the Reading, Writing, and Listening sections, or an minimum PBT TOEFL score of
on each section and a 4.5 on the TWE section, or an IELTS score of 6.5 with no less than 6.0 on each
section. Students who are native speakers of English, or who meet this language requirement will atte
short interview during orientation to obtain a waiver from the language exam. KU must receive officia
scores prior to the students arrival on campus if they wish to use them for the waiver from the langua
exam. Students who do not achieve a satisfactory score on the English proficiency exam are required
take English courses during the regular semester (included in ISEP benefits). In addition, a pre-session
intensive English program is offered between the 1st week of June & the last week of July (not include
ISEP benefits). Graduate students MUST submit a TOEFL or IELTS score that meets the requirements li
above.
Undergraduates wanting business and econimics, computer science or engineering courses require a
minimum TOEFL score of 550 (213 CBT, 79 IBT) or an IELTS score of 6.5. Pre-session intensive English
available (not included in ISEP benefits).

If a student does not have an official TOEFL or IELTS score prior to coming to the University of Mississi
letter of English proficiency from the sending institution or ISEP may be submitted to fulfill the langua
requirement. Students who do not have a minimum TOEFL score of 79 iBT/550 PBT or IELTS score of 6
recommended to take a combination of Intensive English classes and regular academic classes on cam

Students with a TOEFL score of 500-525 are strongly recommended to enroll in Intermediate English fo
Academic Purposes: EASL 250 during their first semester and EASL 251 during their second semester.
Students with a TOEFL score of 526-580 are strongly recommended to enroll in Advanced English for
Academic Purposes: EASL 450 during their first semester and EASL 451 during their second semester.

Students with an Institutional TOEFL score must have a minimum Writing subscore of 20. Students wit
IELTS score must have a minimum Writing subscore of 5.5. Some departments may require a higher o
score or writing subscore. Students providing ACT or SAT scores will be required to take the UNL Englis
Placement Exam upon arrival at UNL to verify appropriate class placement. Pre-session intensive Engl

Graduate courses may require a higher TOEFL score.


All graduate applicants from a non-English-speaking country are required to submit an official TOEFL o
IELTS score.
Students can enroll in one course, FLL 105: English as a Second Language, alongside their regular
university courses.

Students submitting the PBT TOEFL must have a minimum score of 52 in every section.
Students may be required to enroll in one ESL credit course in addition to their regular coursework
(included in ISEP benefits). All incoming exchange students take the Michigan test of English language
placement purposes only.

UT's English Language Institute offers full-time and part-time intensive English instruction for students
professionals for an additional fee (not included in the exchange). Class sessions begin in January, Ma
June, July, August, and October. ISEP's language proficiency report may be used in lieu of test scores.
However, if test scores are included, these will be taken in consideration when determining
eligibility._x000D_

Students who do not meet the TOEFL requirement or who wish to enroll in English as a Second Langua
(ESOL) classes may be required to take a language test on-campus.

Effective Fall 2015, exchange students will have their English language proficiency assessed during arrival week (if English is
the language of full-time instruction at their home institution), and that based on the discretion of UVM faculty, its students
be placed in one mandatory English-for-Academic-Purposes course._x000D_

Graduate programs may require a higher TOEFL score.

Students submitting an IELTS must have a minimum 5.5 for all subscores. SStudents who do not meet
English proficiency requirements must sit an English Proficiency exam during orientation. Exam result
indicate ESL only study, partial ESL and academic study, or full academic study. Any additional ESL fee
associated with partial ESL/academic study or full academic study students taking an ESL course(s) ar
included in ISEP benefits.

Undergraduate Engineering students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 80 iBT/550 PBT or IELTS 6
Undergraduate Pharmacy students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 90 iBT/575 PBT. Graduate le
Engineering students must have a minimum TOEFL score of 100 iBT/600 PBT or IELTS of 7.0.
Upon placement to UIU, ISEP students are required to fill out all required forms, including the Exchang

International students should be prepared to function independently in English when they arrive. Som
departments, such as English, require higher TOEFL scores for graduate students.
Graduate minimum TOEFL requirements vary by department: Business, 100 iBT/600 PBT or IELTS scor
7.0; School of the Arts, 600 PBT. Other departments may vary.

Wesley College has a number of bilingual faculty members and offer several non English foreign langu
classes each semester. Wesley College offers an extensive Academic support services network availab
international students, which include a writing center, study hall, individual tutors as well as seminars
further support each student.

Any waivers or exceptions would have to be considered and approved on a case-by-case basis. Inten
English courses for non-native English speakers and English language tutoring are available to ISEP
exchange students upon request (not included in ISEP benefits)._x000D_

In certain circumstances a writing exam may be required once the student is on-campus, but not prior
attending.
English as a second language courses are offered through the Intensive English Program during the

Students with an iBT TOEFL score between 79 and 88 may need to take English for International Stude
focused at a higher level than ESL classes, in the fall only: Oral Communication in Academic Discourse
Reading in Academic Discourse, and Writing in Academic Discourse, each worth 4 credits.
Willamette is a reading and writing intensive university, so students should be able to succeed in a wr
intensive environment. A pre-semester intensive 3-week English course is available for fall semester
students, but the costs are not included in ISEP benefits.
