Are we having fun yet?
I guess we shouldnt be complaining about the 3.3
inches of snow we got on Monday (bringing Februarys
total up to six inches). Beginning late last week, the
Rocky Mountain front in northwest Montana has gotten
hammered so far with anywhere from three to five
feet! Several highways have been shut down, BNSF
and Amtrak have screeched to a halt with about 180
passengers stranded in Whitefish and Shelby (no
estimated time for reopening both main tracks, it could
be a few days), dozens of schools were shut down,
the Blackfeet Nation declared a state of emergency,
avalanche dangers are at extreme... nope, doesnt
sound any fun at all. About the only ones who arent

snow in their forecast: 50% today and near 100% on

The Valley County Community Foundation (VCCF)
will award its annual grants this spring, grant committee
chair Sam Waters has announced.
VCCF provides grants to local organizations with the
charitable 501(c) 3 IRS designation and local government
February 3 - 9 projects. Specifically, VCCF awards grants in these

Funding for the grants comes from earnings on
the VCCF endowment. It is invested with the Montana
Community Foundation, a statewide organization that
helps local communities and non-profit organizations
raise and administer charitable gifts.
VCCF is also caretaker for two annual scholarships.
The Feda Scholarship for the Trades will be awarded in
May and the Charlotte and Clarence Fuhrman Memorial
Scholarship will be awarded this summer. Check the

Good news for fishin contests
After careful consideration of safety and environmental
precautions, and upcoming rulemaking proposals, all 58
open-water fishing contests set for this season in Montana
will be allowed to occur, the Joint Mussel Response
Implementation Team announced today.

Bowhunter Education Classes Offered in March

Classes will run from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m.-5

 Headed for their last hurrah
The Scotties are hitting the road for Billings Thursday to
compete in the All-Class State Tournament which gets
underway Friday morning and concludes Saturday
evening. Pictured above is Gabe Hallock, who placed
2nd at the Eastern B/C Divisional held in Glasgow this
past Saturday, and below is Tony Kaiser celebrating
his Eastern B/C title with his biggest fan little sister
Katie. Gabe and Tony will be suiting up as Scotties
for their final time as we lose them to graduation this
spring. Best of luck, Scotties!
