Subject: Countermeasure to Abnormal Movement of the Alignment

Plates; Prevent an EA23 Error and EAE0 Error

Overview
An additional wire tie has been added to wire harness (P-I: 41-5) to prevent abnormal movement
of Alignment Plates which can cause an EA23 error Paper transport jam in Finisher (transport
sensor) or EAE0 error Other paper jam from occurring occur.

Description of Symptom
In rare cases, electrical noise from the wire harness (P-I: 41-5) could cause abnormal movement
of the Alignment Plates (indicated by the red arrows below) resulting with an EA23 or EAE0 error
to occur.

Cause of Symptom
If the wires in wire harness (P-I: 41-5) should become separated, the Alignment Plate Home
Position Sensor could detect the electronic noise from the wires and cause abnormal movement
of the Alignment Plates. As a result, an EA23 or EAE0 error could occur.

Countermeasure
To prevent the phenomenon described above from occurring, a wire tie has been added to keep
the wires in the wire harness from becoming separated.

Identifying New Parts

The newly added wire tie is indicated by the red arrow in After Change below. Three additional
wire ties (indicated by the black arrows below) have been added as an improvement for installing
the harnesses.

Application to Production
This change has been applied to machines produced beginning with the following serial
numbers:

MJ-1103: MBF432752
MJ-1104: MCF428210
MJ-1106: MLJ490485
MJ-1107: MHF421940

Procedure to Apply the Countermeasure

If the phenomenon described above should occur, refer to the installation procedure below
according to the related Finisher model.

Wire tie part number: F0-01012000

Procedure for installation to the MJ-1103/1104/1106/1108

1. Remove the Rear Cover and lightly pull out the harness after releasing the clamp.
2. Add the new wire tie (indicated by the red arrow below) on the midway point of the harness
between the two points indicated by blue arrows. Cut off the excess portion of the wire tie.

3. Reinstall the harnesses into the clamp and then reattach the Rear Cover.

Procedure for installation to the MJ-1107

1. Remove the Rear Cover and then pull out the harness by releasing the clamp.
2. Add the new wire tie (indicated by the red arrow below) on the midway point of the harness
between the two points indicated by blue arrows. Cut off the excess portion of the wire tie.

3. Reinstall the harnesses into the clamp and then reattach the Rear Cover.

Procedure to Apply the Countermeasure to the Pre-change Harness

To install the wire tie to the pre-change harness, add one wire tie on the position indicated by the
red arrow below prior to installing the wire harness into the equipment.
