OFFERING OF THE HOUR

Priest and People: Adorable Savior, I Redeemer of the human race, we believe that You are really
and truly present in the Blessed Sacrament here before us. We desire to spend this hour of adoration
and meditation in offering You supreme honor and glory and in making some small atonement for
our sins and the sins of the world. We desire also to spend this Holy Hour in thank-ing You for past
favors and graces. We wish to gain for ourselves and the holy souls in purgatory the many
indulgences attached to this devotion, and most fervently we implore You to pour down Your
blessings upon us and upon our children at home and in foreign lands. O Jesus, while we are
assembled here in Your adorable presence, we are resolved to forget our business, our cares and
anxieties; to forget the world and all its false pleasures, and to give all our thoughts entirely to You
alone, in rendering You supreme homage and adoration, and in contemplating Your lonely life in
our tabernacles. Amen.

Priest: O Lord Jesus Christ, who has promised, that wherever two or three shall be gathered
together in Your Name You will be there in the midst of them, look down with love and
compassion upon these Your children who are assembled before You, to honor Your Sacred Heart
and to make It known and loved by all. Come into the midst of us, O sweet Jesus; fill our hearts.
with your blessings and inflame them with Your love.

Priest: O Jesus; answer our petitions as we kneel before You.

People: O Heart of Jesus, hear and grant our prayers.

O Heart of Love, I place all my trust in You. I fear all things from my own weakness, but I hope for
all things from Your goodness.

Priest and People: O Lord Jesus Christ, who has said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you
shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you"; grant, we beseech You, to us who ask the grace of
Your most divine love, that with all our hearts, words and works, we may love You, and never
cease to praise You, who live and reign world without end. Amen.

Priest: O Jesus, answer our petitions as we kneel before You.

People: O Heart of Jesus, hear and grant our prayers.

O Heart of Love, place all my trust in You; fear all things from my own weak-ness, but hope for all
things from Your goodness.

Priest and People: O loving Savior, in-finitely generous, seeking only our in-terests, from Your
Sacred Heart came those words of pleading love: "Come to Me all you that labor and are burdened
and will refresh you". Relying on this promise of Your infinite charity, we come to You, and in the
lowliness of our hearts earnestly beg You to grant us the favor we ask in this Holy Hour. (Request
to be made in silence.) But if what we ask is not for the glory of God or the salvation of our souls,
do grant us what is most conducive to both. Amen.

Priest: O Jesus, answer our petitions as we kneel before You.

People: O Heart of Jesus, hear and grant our prayers.

O Heart of Love, place all my trust in You; fear all things from my own weakness, but hope for all
things from Your goodness.

SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

Priest and People: My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love
You above all things, and desire to receive You into my soul. Since cannot now receive You
sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already
there, and unite my-self wholly to You; never permit me to be separated from you.

(Hymn)

SECOND QUARTER (all kneel)

Priest and People: O Divine Jesus, lonely tonight in so many tabernacles, without visitor or
worshipper, I offer You my poor but loving heart. May its every beating be a prayer of love for
You. You are ever watching under the sacra-mental veil; in Your love You never sleep and are
never weary of Your vigil for sinners. O good Jesus, love You; am truly sorry for having of-fended
You. O lonely Jesus, may my heart be a lamp, the light of which shall burn and beam for You
alone. Bless me, O Jesus, come spiritually into my soul and fill my heart with love far You. Make
me, Jesus, wholly Yours. Take this wayward heart of mine. Guide it through this valley of tears.
Heart of Jesus, hear me. When draw my part-ing breath, when my eyes shall close in death, then,
sweet Jesus, be near me. O Heart of Jesus, hear me. Watch, Sacramental Sentinel, watch for the
weary world for the erring soul, and for Your poor lonely child.

PRAYER TO THE HEART OF JESUS IN THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Priest and People: O Sweet Jesus, let me lay at Your Sacred feet my daily share of joys, struggles
and sorrows, my hopes and fears;and in the stillness of Your sanctuary, do tenderly gather them
into Your Sacred Heart. Solace my doubts, calm my fears, and grant that day by day I may become
more united to You.

O Heart of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, overflowing with gentleness, tenderness and
charity, bury in the abyss of Your mercy all my iniquities and all my negligences. I offer You my
labors and sufferings my sorrows and my mi-series; I recommend to You my life and my death.

PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Priest: O Virgin Mary, our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, glory of the Chris-tian people, joy of
the universal Church, salvation of the world: pray for us, your children who are assembled here to-
night, and awaken in all the faithful devotion to the Holy Eucharist, in order that they may render
themselves worthy to receive It daily.

Here petitions and spiritual favors may be announced,

(Hymn)

THIRD QUARTER (all kneel)

ACT OF REPARATION

Priest and People: Divine Savior of souls With countenances covered with confu-sion, we
prostrate ourselves in Your sovereign presence. Our eyes turn to-ward the solitary tabernacle where
You, imprisoned, sigh for our love. Heartbroken, we grieve at the sight o You forgotten by those
whom You bave redeemed; Your Blood made void, Your sacrifices fruitless, Your love de-rided.
Yet, since in Your infinite con-descension, You permit us tonight to unite our sighs with Yours, our
tears with the tears, which for our sake fell from those most sacred eyes and with the drops of blood
which poured out from Your Divine Heart, we pray to You, Sweet Jesus, for those who do not pray
to You; we bless You in place of those who curse You; we adore You for those who outrage You.
With every power of our souls, in all the moments of this night, and before all the tabernacles of the
world, in union with the efficacious desires of Your loving Heart, we wish to bless and praise You.
PRAYER FOR THE DYING

Priest: O Most merciful Jesus, burning with love for souls, we pray, by the agonies of Your most
Sacred Heart and by the sorrows of Your Immaculate Mother, to wash in Your Blood the sinners of
the whole world now in their agony and about to die this day.

People: Amen.

Priest: Agonizing Heart of Jesus, People: Have mercy on the dying.

AN ACT OF REPARATION TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS

Priest and People: Adorable Heart of Jesus, glowing with love for us and inflamed with zeal for
our salvation! O Heart, ever sensible of our misery and the wretchedness to which our sins have
reduced us, infinitely rich in mer-cy to heal the wounds of our souls! Behold us humbly prostrate
before You to express the sorrow that fills our hearts for the coldness and indif-ference with which
we have so long requited the numberless benefits You have conferred upon us. With a deep sense
of the outrages heaped upon You by our sins and the sins of others, we come to make a solemn
reparation of ho-nor to Your Most Sacred Majesty. It was our sins that overwhelmed Your Heart
with bitterness; it was the weight of our iniquities that pressed down Your face to the earth in the
Garden of Olives

and caused You to expire in anguish and agony on the Cross. But now, repenting and sorrowful, we
cast our selves at Your feet and implore forgiveness.

Adorable Heart of Jesus, source of true contrition and ever merciful to the penitent sinner, impart to
our hearts the spirit of penance, and give to our eyes a fountain of tears that we may sincerely
bewail our sins, now, and for the rest of our days. O would that we could blot them out even with
our blood!

Pardon them, O Lord, in Your mercy, and pardon and convert to You all that have committed
irreverences and sacrileges against You in the Sacrament of Your love, and thus give another proof
that Your mercy is above all Your works. Divine Jesus, with You there is mercy and plentiful
redemption. De-liver us from our sins. Accept the sincere desire we now entertain and our holy
resolution, relying on the assistance of Your grace, henceforth to be faithful to You. And, in order
to repair the sins and ingratitude by which we have grieved Your most tender and loving Heart we
are resolved in the future ever to love and honor You in the most adorable Sacrament of the altar,
where You are ever present to hear and grant our petitions and to be the food and life of our souls.
Be, O compassionate Jesus, our mediator with Your heavenly Father whom we have so grievously
offended. Strengthen our weakness, confirm our resolutions of amendment, and as Your Sacred
Heart is our refuge and our hope when we have sinned, so may It be the strength and support of our
repentance, that nothing in life or death may ever again separate us from You. Amen.

FOURTH QUARTER (all kneel)

LITANY OF THE SACRED HEART

PRAYER TO THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS IN TIME OF TROUBLE

Priest and People: O Sacred Heart of Jesus, make us remember, when the world is cold and
dreary, and we know not where to turn for comfort, that there is always one spot bright and cheerful
- the Sanctuary. When we are in desolation of spirit, when all who are dear to us have passed away
like summer flowers, and none are left to us or care for us, we whisper to our troubled souls that
there is one Friend who dies not, One whose love never changes, the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the
altar.

When sorrows deepen and crush us with their burden, when we look in vain for comfort, let Your
dear words come forth with full force from the taberna-cle: "Come to Me all you that labor and are
heavily burdened, I and will re-fresh you."

Would that we could realize the pure happiness of receiving Your sympathy. Would that we could
feel - when we are crushed and humbled, when the hope we have live for has withered, when
sorrows and trials that we dare not re-veal to any make our souls sink well nigh unto death; when
we look in vain for someone to understand us, one who will enter into our miseries make us
remember that there is One on the al-tar who knows every fiber of our hearts, every sorrow, every
pain special to our peculiar natures, and who deeply sym-pathizes with us.

Compassionate Heart of Jesus, our hearts crave for sympathy, and to suf-fer seems nothing to the
bitterness of suffering alone.

THE BLESSING

Priest and People: Omy Jesus, fountain of inexhaustible benediction, You who did blest the
Apostles before You as-cend into heaven, bless me also, and with Your presence sanctify me. Bless
my memory, that it may ever recollect You. Bless my understanding, that it may ever think of You.
Bless my will, that it may never seek or desire that which may be displeasing to You. Bless my
body and all its actions. Bless my heart with all its affections. Bless me now and at the hour of my
death. Bless me in time and eternity, and grant that Your most sweet blessing may be to me a
pledge of eternal happiness. Bless my brethren, the faithful. Bless my dear ones. Bless everyone
love, and every-one to whom owe any gratitude, and bring me and them to rest in Your Sacred
Heart forever. Amen.

PRAYER BEFORE BENEDICTION

Priest: O Jesus, who are about to give Your blessing to us all who are here as-sembled, we
humbly beseech You that it may impart to each and all of us the special grace we need. But more
than this, we ask: let Your blessings go far and wide. Let it be felt in the souls of the afflicted who
cannot come here to re-ceive it at Your feet. Let the weak and tempted feel its power wherever they
may be. Let the poor sinner feel its in-fluence, arousing him to come to You. Let it cross the seas
and animate and comfort the missionary far away from home and brethren and toiling for the love
of souls so dear to Your Sacred Heart. We humbly beg Your blessing for (here mention the name of
the person for whom you ask the blessing), and may it affect that salutary purpose for which Q
Lord, You do so lovingly impart it.

People: Amen.

Priest and People: Jesus, my God, my King, now I must leave You, but I carry away with me
the memory of Your wounded love. It will not be long until come to visit You. Till then, I leave
my poor heart before the taberna-cle. Let its every beat tell You that I love You, and that am
longing to be free to spend another hour with You.

Bless me before I go, my Jesus. Bless my home and undertakings. Bless my dear ones, my friends,
and my enemies too. Amen.
